Mine is a M6...

Guess that I will have to go to LPE 3.70 Gears...seems that they are stronger than richmonds...(at least before the release of their "new" 4.10s)

There have never been any issues with the Richmond 3.73, it was isolated to the old 4.10.

Get your tune first and then reassess what you need the car to do from there.

Shoot me a PM titled "I want 3.90s!" and I'll let you know as soon as we get them.

Has anyone dropped a Manual (Posi) rear into an Auto V6 yet? Any issues?

There was no mention of this...but on a basically stock car(HF cats, SW Retro Catback, intake)....will these work with out a tune? say 3.73 or 4.11s essentially your odometer will spin faster with out a tune...am i on the right path?

Not that I am aware of. It wouldn't be a simple swap, there would have to be some custom fabrication to make it work.

You do need to recalibrate the speedo.

What parts are different? I was under the impression the suspension was the same, so I was hoping you just swap differential cases. Here's my thought process, just point out the necessary changes I've missed. I'm not in a hurry to do this, since I want the drivetrain warrantee a whioe longer, but I plan on doing it sometime in the future.

Version 1 ( same axles for non and posi)
1. Remove axles.
2. unbolt Diff. Case
3. Slide case out and off Driveshaft.
4. swap cases
5. reinstall old axles

Version 2 ( axles are different and match differentials)
1. Remove axles
2. Remove diff. case (and all related steps)
3. install new/swap diff. case
4. Install axles from Swapped Diff. case

So I was thinking you could reuse the entire rear section except differential case and maybe axles. I saw an entire rear subframe (diff, axles, full suspension system, etc.) on ebay.
Here is the link
Are you saying that entire structure would need to be swapped?

I was hoping to buy just something like this one. (Not from ebay, just an easy way to illustrate my thoughts.)

This was studied in depth early last year. I can't find all the info right now but if I remember correctly there was something about the drive shaft being different and not being able to work. Not a hurdle that can't be overcome, it would have to be a custom fabricated piece, but that will stop it from being a simple bolt up swap.

So, If I were to swap the differential, I'd need a new Driveshaft since the gap between auto trans and posi trans is unique. I would have thought I'd need a drive shaft from an auto SS, but I guess the two auto trans aren't the same length?

So that's it? posi differential housing and custom driveshaft? Or is there more?

I'm going to have to try and find all the info again because I can't remember the specifics. What I can remember is that it can't be pulled off with off the shelf parts.

I'm subscribed. One of my long term goals is to drop a posi 3.7/3.73 rear in. No rush, I want the warranty a bit longer on the stock drive-train so if anything breaks in the first year to 25k miles it's covered, but after that, the posi's going in. So as long as we have a solution, even if it's a custom drive-shaft or something similar, I'm game.

Last time I did this (with a 79 Grand Prix, so no comparison), I just took the stock drive-shaft, had the shop make measurements and a local shop did the cut&weld to give me a custom drive-shaft from the stock original. I'm hoping to do the same with this one.
