Ford put Cup2s on it and a bunch of other parts including parts from the Gt350. This is to try to get some good magazine test results on the track compared to the 1LE, but they don't want you to track it. Problem is the 1LE can match the current GT350 on track, which is why they've made changes to the 2019 GT350.

I own a Mustang GT PP2, and it got the craptastic MT82D which is plagued with shift fork issues. Besides that, my motor blew at 863 miles. Currently waiting on Ford to fail to fix it within 30 days and then the subsequent buy back, but this article and the admission by Ford makes me feel duped (could rhyme with stupid if you pronounce it right).

Not a specific brand fanboy and indeed owned many Fords over the yrs but damn this situation would hurt BIG...

Went over to talk to the gentleman after session 2, came to find out the car was not his, but loaned to him by Ford for the week to in his words, evaluate. He had removed the plate. He showed me the window sticker after I started asking questions about the wheel size. $51k. I saw the plate in his tote and it said "manufacturer". We talked some more and I formally introduced myself, and he did also. Paul Fix. Google his name + race car driver. He is a Trans Am driver, drives a Mustang, started and owns Classic Tube and Fix Motorsports. He was running in my group and he mentioned the Mustang had an axle temp warning. In session 3, we were lined up close to each other leaving the grid. A current gen GT was first out, then Mr Fix, a hopped up Lexus then myself. We both worked thru these cars and the tail end traffic. At times, when we both had clear track, I could close the gap. We were pretty close as far as speed goes, with both of us working thru traffic at different points. Two cars we both got around were GT350s. With about 3 minutes left in the 20 minute session he bailed and was giving everyone the point by, definitely off the pace. I did not get a chance to get back over to him to chat. I have a modded Gen 5 1LE. Ambient in sessions 1 & 2 was 91* with session 3 at 86*. I have the Harry's Lap timer vid, I might put the entire session on youtube in a few days.
Any chance you were out with the rr racing ISF? They are in Pennsylvania and have a supercharged ISF track car that makes 600wheel. I was just watching one of their vids where it looks like they are trying to catch a 1LE but they can’t.

Indeed Ford has apparently said it to some other reviewers incl some blogs ive conversed with. Their answer was "get a Shelby for track".

Regardless, it is a shame. It is also a shame to sell a strictly DD car with Cup2s on it. Pointless and very expensive for consumers.

Perhaps a new Boss is coming out soon and they dont want any internal conpetition. Or they wanted to protect the GT350. Who knows how marketing works at Ford, but to purposely castrate a good platform is one heck of a move.
Shelby's overheat, too

What let loose in the engine? Just curious?

The next efforts from Ford will be the Bullitt and the Shelby GT 500 (PP3?). Since Ford is giving up on all cars but the Mustang, maybe one of their new SUVs will be track-worthy. Or instead of a pickup bed in the F150, maybe the whole back end could be a giant cooler.

The Lexus is a street car, it's black with a big wing and tinted windows. My friend knows more about him and the car. He is at as many TNiA's as I am. I do not think it's 600 HP, because I never have any problem getting past him. It sounds great though.
EDIT: I found a video from Pocono, they are chasing a black Gen 5 1LE. The Lexus is blue.

Indeed GT500 will be Ford's new top dog and this will proly sun set the GT350. The latter have been very slow selling at lest up here. And becuse of the badge Ford cant really offer deep discounts on them. Not even on left over 2017s. My bet is they will intro a new Boss and pair it with the GT500. The GT350s are old news now and since SS 1le came out thier luster was gone pdq performance wise.

Bullitt is a paint job and 15 extra hp for premium $$$.
Kinda like GM stuck badges on a Z06 and called it a C7R.
Quite amazingly some folks did fall for it and forked out extra $$$ for a "race car". Marketing has no limits...

The Bullitt offers an extra 20 hp over a GT, and 25 hp more than an SS/1LE, which is actually substantial. I know there are plenty of Chevy guys who would be happy to pay a premium for the factory option to add 25 hp.

Still do not know for certain, but I have holes on either side of the block and a connecting rod poking out through one of the holes. Your guess is as good as mine as to what set that train wreck in motion.

That's really unfortunate. Of course I'm happy that our cars still benchmark very well against the competition but, I do not want the competition to falter in such a way. The more they push us, the better product we all get. Ultimately, I love Mustangs just as much if not more than I do Camaro's and I want them both to succeed.
