The couple of people I know who have lowered did it themselves so not much help from me.

I lowered mine myself. Only took a couple hours. You would definitely want to rent a spring compressor if you go the diy route

I take all of my Chevys to Cable Dahmer in KC and have always had good experiences there. Bought the SS from Hendrick and haven't been impressed so far there so I'll likely be taking the SS there when it needs something as well.
