ECS supercharger, Take Two
I did not make a thread about the bad experience I had with an ECS kit on my Camaro SS last year, but did mention it recently in another thread. Just reinstalled the kit for another try so following up here. Weird thing is, this time with the same parts and same pullies, with just small changes which may or may not help/hurt/do nothing as far as the supercharger is concerned, it seems different. Changes this time are a baro breakout harness, different air filter that fits the flange of the supercharger better, and a 160 thermostat. Last night I got to somewhat quantify the difference. Made a half-track pass on the dragstrip and it went 100mph at the 1/8, whereas last year was a mere 95mph. Yeah, don't know why it sucked so much last year and now it seems to be somewhat in the vicinity of what it's supposed to be. It was a crappy pass too, the potential for better is certainly there.

Thanks, wanted to update the forum with the new information. You are getting a Procharger on your car aren't you? One caution I will mention is, make sure to watch injector pulse width, rail pressure, and fuel pressure. Mine is now running out of high side fuel in the upper end, with just a base kit and no headers WTF. Must be like the Procharger guy has said, different cars reach their fuel limit at different power levels.

Glad you are happy with the results this time around. Sometimes it's the little details that can really hinder a FI setups performance.
I have also heard that there is quite a variance in the HPFP from one car to the next. Sounds like you need the LT4 stuff.

Do you know things like the DA of each day? Were you data logging, did it pull timing for any multitude of reasons? Where the 60' times the same? There are a lot of variables that can change 5 MPH at the track from one day to the next. Glad you're getting closer to where you want it to be though!

When I put my new cam with 32% lobe, the vendor and I were both surprised at how much fuel had to be take out of the injector. I spent a while making sure I was getting a full stroke. So the stock lt1 pump really can supply a whole lot of fuel if shimmed correctly with a bigger lobe cam. My thinking is there is a good bit of slop on the stock fuel lobe to pump..
