Ted.
Sounds like there may need to be an alternate tune for race gas and a smaller pulley...one that would be reserved for track play...

I could see that just to have a vert sneak into a track day to put a surprise whoopin on my good friend Laynlo.

A properly spec'd blower cam will pick up 100rw at the same boost level. You will have to pulley down to get your boost back.

@Pray,

Right now, I am planning to keep boost low for the street and run 9psi. That setup should but me between 690-720whp on e85. However, I am thinking about either running race gas or alky injection for the track to let me get closer to what you were recently running on your blower setup (780-800whp).

2 questions for you:

1. Would it make sense to get a higher stall converter on the magnuson?
2. What would you expect to see in terms of quarter mile performance difference running a 20in drag radial compared to say a 17in drag pack? Would the 20in setup result in significantly worse performance?

I am trying to gauge if it is worth it to get a drag pack compared to simply running drs and then further wondering about the impact of the DR.

Parts have arrived. Taking them to buddies house so we can go over all the parts and make sure we have the plan lined out. Should go under the knife soon.

I higher stall converter with a Magnuson will make traction a real problem so not necessary.

A drag pack will give you the best performance, Let us know if we can set you up with one.

Ted.

I concur with Ted. Stock converter and real drag pack. Ted has these PD cars dialed in and they make plenty of tq to do 1.3 60fts. The drag pack will be beneficial in multiple ways. The most being dropping the 90lbs of weight you gained with the blower. 60lbs or so of that will be off the front of the car. Not to mention the added traction of a real rear tire over the stock rim DR.

Bam! Calling tomorrow.

Ted, I have to get my HP Tuner setup. I did get my base tune from Laynlo, I will email both my original tune and the current tune to you tomorrow.

We are working on the schedule so we can get all of the new goodies installed...and we can begin the tuning magic to complete the transformation.

Laynlo,
Once done, I will be heading your way so we can do the final dyno and compare numbers from before and after...this time dinner will be on me.

Thanks guys.

Ted shouldn't need your stock tune at all, he'll just need your current tune to make changes to that. Sounds good.

I do always prefer to work from the stock tune whenever possible.

Going over all of the parts for the install today. We are expecting to have access to the lift and get things started in about 3 weeks. We had some scheduling difficulties. Regardless, it’s about to begin.

Only thing I am missing was the LS1 front crank seal. Also need new fuel lines.

The pistons from JRE look great along with the entire cam kit and headers. Fuel system components all look right and the gauges look simple enough. The smaller pulley 85mm and a belt (with spare). I have the HP Tuners pro kit in the house now so, I need to get it setup with my car. Should be fun to log my car while waiting just so I can play around with the tuning software. I am especially interested in the shifting aspects of my current tune.

Regardless, can’t wait to get the changes under way.

I also picked up the modern spare kit, while we have the car being put together, I plan on painting calipers and testing the spare tire on front and back to ensure it will fit as expected.

Heck yeah. I think I need to order a new paint kit. I kinda think it might be best to pull them off and have them powder coated. Gotta see where I could have it done.

Leaning toward running the R888R’s on the street and picking up a new set of 17’s for the strip that’s probably my best option to go along with these mods.
