Punch it and it goes back and forth! Nothing mysterious, just the power of the car. ZO6 did the same thing. Just be careful. Happened to me yesterday as a matter of fact.

Yeah, this definitely isn’t tire spin. It’s more of a rear torque steer or “tramlining” feeling. I’ve had a few cars making more power than this, and none of them have had this sensation.

That said, it seems much better after I aligned it. The rear thrust angle was off quite a bit from the factory.

Bumping this thread...looking to see if there’s any truth to the supposed service bulletin and software update for this.

My car still does it once in a while. It seems to really only happen when a little steering angle is present — like going WOT and then making a lane change to pass. It’s something I’ve gotten used to, but would love to have it fixed.

Today I was going straight line toying with another Camaro and kicked it hard at 90ish. It kicked back hard and I almost tagged him. Not enjoyable at all.

Man, this is some scary stuff. My Hellcat used to do this all the time on stock rear tires. Once I switched to Nitto 555rs in the back it went away, I kept the front tires stock (piresllis PZeros).

I'm not looking forward to dealing with this issue on the Camaro.

Anyone have info on the software update?

What you felt on the HC could have simply been tire spin. This definitely isn’t, though.

Ted Jannetty was the one who mentioned the service info and the use of the word “trammeling” in it. I went to my dealer a few weeks back and they couldn’t find any bulletins. I’m wondering if it was some type of engineering info or early tech memo that isn’t a bulletin quite yet. Working in the industry, I see this all the time.

Agreed it’s not tires spinning, and also only happens when the steering wheel isn’t completely straight and when already moving whether at city street speed or highway speed, definitely a trammelling, swaying, torque steer feeling... this happened on my 2011 Camaro SS M6 with only 485hp at the flywheel (car was significantly lowered on coil overs) as well as my 2017 SS A8 (stock hp and only minorly lowered about 3/4 inch), hoping it won’t happen on my 2018 ZL1 A10 arriving next week, but we will see...

Doesn’t happen on the track when I’m going 140+ perhaps it’s called driving with 650 hp.

Hmmmm Maybe it’s HP but if it is it doesn’t take 650hp, it happened with only 455hp on my stock 2017 2SS and 485hp on my 2011 2SS

My TT 5th gen did that when I got crazy on the power and maybe coincidence I did harder sub frame bushing at the same time and didn't get them torqued enough..

My 17 zl1 started to do the same I though it was the added power but maybe the sub frame bushings are loosing up and the torque is moving the rear..

it almost feels like loss of traction but its not..

it seems to be noticeable in 3rd and 4th gear pulls right when you hit it and goes away quickly..

I have had the car aligned and all suspension looked at I play a lot og golf w the head suspension guy at classic the car is there this second so maybe ill text him to ck it out and look at this thread..

I think it is mostly the tires and maybe some better alignment may help. Note: my Z/28 did a lot of tram lining with the stock Trefeos. When I went to Michelin Pilot 4s street tires, the Z/28 changed completely. No tram lining and much, much smoother on the bumps.

Also, the loading of the rear end might have something to do with some twitching happening while hitting it. I noticed that the torsen rear end on the Z/28 completely eliminates "twitching" when loading and unloading the rear end during a turn. This is different than every other pony car that I have driven -- which normally twitch slightly when unloading the rear end during a turn. The ZL1 has so much torque that this rear end twitching may be more noticeable now on a normal rear end.

Some of us have owned a bunch of cars making more power than a stock ZL1. It’s not tire spin or a side effect of having 650 Hp. It’s something inherent to either the design of the rear suspension (bushings, etc.), or a calibration thing with the E-diff.
