Advice for winter tires/wheels for a 1LE

I just bought a 2021 1SS 1LE and I’m looking for options and opinions on what would be best for winter wheels and tires. Was thinking about a set of SS wheels and putting snows on them or I’m open to going aftermarket also. What size wheels and tires do you recommend?

plenty of inexpensive 19x9.5 et22-33 or 19x10 wheels for winter use.

I went with 265/40/19 Michelin PA4 N-Spec, which are designed for Porsche, I figure they would work better with the LT1's massive torque, the size works and they were on sale at Tire Rack. They do really well on packed snow, and the car is surprisingly good on cold, dry pavement too.

I used 19 x 9.5, 20mm offset MMR wheels with a 7mm spacer and +1" ARP wheel studs up front. I cut the nose off the studs so stock wheels/lugs fit and I can also use a larger spacer for an AutoX/Track setup. You can use up to a 5mm spacer up front w/o changing studs, IMO.

Stock SS wheel + performance snows would be good, but you can't rotate so you get half the mileage warranty, at least with Michelin, and rears will likely wear faster.

I see you're out in my neck of the woods. With Michigan winters being relatively mild these last few years, pretty much any dedicated winter setup will do. Hell I even used all seasons for my first winter with no major problems

Hey Marine, Bridgestone makes the RE980AS if you go with a 295/30 front and 305/30 rear. I just did that but went with the Bridgestone S007a's as we rarely get snow and I want to see how much better it is as a daily driver over the original Goodyears. I hated how they jerk the steering wheel with road imperfections or dips.

I will tell you the BFG Comp A/S 2 are CRAP in the snow... I had them and ok with a dusting but anymore than 1/2 inch and they were junk.

i went with a square 275/35-20 Dunlop DWS 06 on the MRR SS 1le replicas. Haven't really got any snow action, but that tire was ok on my 1 series bimmer.

I agree with you on that tire, was great in cold and wet but snow was a no-go. I needed a little bit of snow capability so I stepped up to the Alpin PA4 this year but no snow yet so no verdict (yet).

275/35 and 285/35 fit F/R on the 1LE OE wheels just fine and are close enough to the speedo not being off by more than 1mph.
