Pulled the trigger toyos proxes r888r

After weeks of reading, research and calling tire vendors, I finally pulled the trigger today on a set of new tires. I ended up buying the Toyo Proxes R888R. I am looking for a new tire that I can get loads of traction but still maintain excellent composure in the corners. Most of what I will do is street driving. My Goodyear f1 g2 have decent tread left at 7700 miles but can’t stick even in 75 degree weather after driving for half hour on them. Horrible street tires for puting the power down on the street.

I debated going 315 vs 305 but ultimately stayed with the 305 stock size. My hope is to get 5-6k miles from them over a few summers. They will be here in a week and I plan to do a full review when they arrive.

Thank you everyone who helped and answered questions on here.

Hmmdo I took your advice and called tiresdirect and spoke with Brett. He was very helpful and they offered the best price by far. Tried negotiating with tirerack before calling them but they won’t negotiate. Super nice but wasn’t about to pay $300 more for the full set. Tiresdirect hooked me up with a great deal. I will definitely use them here on out.

I have come to realize power isn’t anything if you can’t put it down. Excited to see how well these hook up.

They are great tires... run them at the track... enjoy your new found traction!

Looking forward to your review. I want a set also just wish they weren’t so pricey.

The two biggest factors for me anyway for NOT getting these were:

1. Price
2. How loud the tires are. Although I cannot personally speak to this yet, lots have said they are loud. It really shouldn’t bother me too much but I will give I’m feedback after mounting.

One interesting thing to note, you can rotate the left to the right and vice versa. That should give an extra 500-1000 easy I would think for street driving anyway.

I would love to get one good track day with these on this summer.

R888Rs shouldn't be that loud. That's the R888 that has the famous tire hum. They set out to fix that for the R888R.

With tires like these and no track time, I wonder how fast the rear tires will
Wear out compared to the fronts? I know track time is a whole different deal.

You know how spell checking is on a phone ;o0)...

I’ll be testing mine out next month — same track... Goodyear’s did good but my power level makes it too much work for them..

Mine are mounted! I’ll be taking them out this weekend to heat cycle them. Can’t wait... they look great on the ZL1 wheels...

Mid/upper 40's today. At least on the other side of the lake. You take what you can get, right?
