Phone Home

I just bought myself a new '18 Camaro and I find myself looking for a suitable home for my phone inside my new ride. When I'm cruising by myself it usually hangs out in the passenger seat. When I have company, in the cup holder. Neither solution is ideal. And yes, I am aware of the wireless charging station between the rear "seats." It is too small for my phone, and it's awkward reaching behind myself to get it in place.

I'm interested in seeing what solutions people have come up with for securing their phone.

Front cupholder.. or front phone holder w rear one for the key fob.. since day 1. Debated designing and 3D printing something to sticky tape to side of center console.. but effort, perhaps in winter when there is more boredom.

A definite pickle, especially with a plus size phone.

I have been using both cup holders or just throwing it in the glove compartment (is that still a thing?).

The 3D printing idea has crossed my mind. I've only had the car for 3 days though, so not a lot of time to ponder a solution.

Also, why even bother taking the fob out of your pocket?

Ive got something similar to this one i got at autozone. Works good for in town driving, has some vibration that worrys me rattling the mirror off at highway speeds.

Plugged into the console where it stays.

CarPlay gives me all the access I need, unless I need to use WAZE, then it is in the cupholder.

The other option is to get a ProClip, but for me, right now, I don't see the need to have to see my phone.

I ordered some of those little stick-on cargo nets off Amazon. (Haven't arrived yet.)

You place them on either side of the center console, down on the carpet. There was a post on the forums here about them, but I'm not savvy enough to link to a post. The OP said he had to ditch the double-sided tape that came with them and added his own HD velcro. (Reviews on Amazon said most people did this.)

I ordered 2 different types, as they are cheap:

1. Richter 444 Car Interior Side Mesh Pocket Seat Back Organizer Cargo Net Liner Smartphone Holder 21×12cm. These are well-reviewed, and they have a solid back-plate that should allow for more velcro/more secure mount.

2. Black Universal Car Seat Side Back Pocket Storage Organizer Nylon Net Bag Phone Holder. These are the ones the OP used, and they worked well after adding his own velcro.

My computer is being an arse and seemingly not allowing me to copy working links. Sorry.

I also thought about one of those NATO mounts with the magnet. I would likely stick it to the dashboard in between the gauge cluster and touchscreen. I want to try the mini cargo nets first, as they seem to be more unobtrusive and reversible.

As of right now, I just use the Bluetooth link-up for my iPhone 8, and keep the phone on my belt.

I just put the phone on it's side between the right A/C vent and the edge of the console. Works fine there unless you really step on it.

I'm very happy with the console mount. It's a very well designed product. The phone is very secure and out of the way of everything. I have the one with the cable attachment. Once you slide the phone in it's charging and Carplay works. About the only down side is it's a bit pricey, but well worth it as far as I'm concerned.

There's also a lower tech and much cheaper solution...

Someone mentioned the spot under the steering wheel, and I've been hooked ever since. I do tend to forget that it's there and have to go back and get it from time to time. Holds my s9 plus perfectly, even when I get on it.
