Guns are weapons, they were made by the Chinese, than the british, than everyone else. They were developed to kill other soldiers, they are weapons of war. Yes, guns are very effective at killing people. This is actually a good thing, if you are ever threatened by someone determined to rob, rape, or kill you. If you want to take responsibility for your own safety and want to ensure you are not robbed, raped, or murdered, the logical thing to do is arm yourself.

Why does every gun control debate turn to the extreme "you ain't takin' away my guns!!!"

Gun control is about trying to make it harder for guns to get into the hands of the wrong people. Lets' at least make it a little more difficult for people to commit mass murders.

Gun control is not about stopping people from having the constitutional right to protect themselves.

You are falsely attributing failures of enforcement to failures of legislation. There are laws that already were written to do the things you say.
