Any idea how wide that spare tire is with the cover on it? If it's only 4" then it may fit laying flat under the top when it's down in the trunk. You might have to use some velcro tape to stick it to the floor of the trunk so it doesn't slide around and knock down the trunk divider though. I've been thinking about the same thing, the fix a flat kits don't give me a whole lot of confidence since the last couple of flats I've had have been gashes on the sidewall from pot holes. I wouldn't trust those things to stay in the hole at highway speeds either. Also wouldn't want to have to sit around for 3 days waiting for a tire to show up somewhere on a road trip. AAA and the fix a flat kits will still require you to wait around for a new tire, those aren't a permanent solution like an actual spare tire.

I put one in my 14 when I owned it and it raised the cover about 2 inches higher than without the spare in place. Not sure if it will be the same on the 6th gen

There's just over 8" of space below the top when it's down. See my post here (linked video in post is no longer available).

Ok. I am not sure when it was delivered, but leaving this morning, a different box in the garage caught my attention. When I got home, pulled it out and checked the trunk...beautiful...the full modern spare kit fits under the top without touching.

I had to unhook the bottom buttons of the divider, but the top went down with no problems. Now I need to figure out a way to hold the spare kit in place so that It doesn’t slide around. Best thing...top up or top down, I have a spare now. I will get some pictures tomorrow. I tried taking one in the garage, but it was too dark...

Where are the pics??

Seriously, thats awesome.. Does it also fit behind the divider? So can you put it in the trunk and still put the divider up or does it need the 'divider mod'?

Sorry. I left on a mini vacation and didn’t take the vert. Won’t be back until the weekend for pictures..

As of now, I clip the top two buttons for the divider and unbutton the two on the floor. I slid the wheel to the back seat and just let the divider hang down. No need for a divider mod..just let it hang.

So, what do you use for a jack? How you gonna change that tire in when you’re 100 miles from nowhere?

Find a jack/spare setup from Cadillax CTS w 18" spare.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/CADILLAC-CT...8/123188795456

If you can find local boneyard w such a car, I bet you can get entire trunk kit for el-cheapo.

It’s in the modern spare tire kit. Comes with everything you need.

$20 and your done. If this tire kit can't get you back on the road then you should be calling for a tow anyways. Most of you should have insurance that provides coverage for this type of stuff already on your policy.

Geese, sorry. I completely forgot about this thread. I bought the modern spare kit that comes with the jack and everything you need. They also confirmed it will work on front or rear with no spacers for the SS.

I am taking my car into the shop this week and will probably try the spare on both front and rear just to verify.

Bigger than I expected it to be. There is still a good 2-3 inches between it and the top when down.

I have the spare case with the jack and everything. Same deal, it has 2-3 inches between wheel and top when down.

I went with non run flats and bought a ResQ 71-063-021 Pro+ Tire Repair Air Compressor it for $59.95 on Amazon.
Anyone interested in the run flats, let me know. I am keeping the Fifty wheels but will sell the OEM tires with 250 miles on them.
