This whole crack/pop tuning reminds me of the early ricer days with hondas and their obnoxious exhausts - they do nothing for performance, and everything for attention which I hate.

Depending how you drive will depend on how much "Snap, Crackle, Pop..." you get, you can virtually avoid it by driving a certain way, or you can make it over the top by driving aggressively with the downshifts...

It would be nice if in Sport mode there was no pops and in Track mode it was enabled to allow us some choice.

I have found that with my 22SS 6MT if I change the engine sound to Touring the pops and crackles are quieter.

I agree. Depends on how you drive and in which mode you are in. If you really want to hear it put the car in Sport/Track, keep the revs up at about 3K and let off the gas. It will snap, crackle and pop all day. If you don't want to hear it switch to Touring and shift lower in the rev range.

I personally love the snap, crackle and pop and the reactions from others when they hear it. Most like it. Some don't, but who cares. Some just look befuddled by it and can't figure out where it is coming from.

I haven't heard any pops or crackles for the first 400 miles and I leave the sound in Track mode and toggle between Touring and Sport driving modes. But I am easy on the throttle and never just let off the throttle after getting into it, I roll pretty easy into and out of throttle. As an example of how easy I am, AFM kicks in after 50 ft and I can spend a lot of time in V4 while driving around town (which doesn't include stop-and-go, but 30mph and 40mph thru streetlights).

It's likely easier to elicit the snap, crackle and pop sounds with the manual than the automatic. I tend to downshift when I slow down out of habit. I also like to shift at around 3K in normal driving in first and second gear.

I'm over 3k quite often myself. My point is if you are at 3k or more in Sport/Track mode in a manual and let off the gas the NPP will snap, crackle and Pop all day.

I know, and what I’m saying is it’s the same in an auto…

Exactly, the best way to get it to happen is be in second gear, step heavy on it (4000+ RPM aggressively) and then left off and it will crackle a LOT!

Sounds tinny on my ZL1/A10 with the MBRP axle back which is really a muffler delete, sounded better on my 181LE/6M with AWE touring axle back system. It's a little too high pitched now. I like this stuff but it's not suiting me too much now, looking at resonators or a resonated midpipe setup to deepen the tone.
Easy to do in this car, IF, you're in performance shift mode and left off the throttle or it's downshifting. In normal "D" drive mode there's very little of it the crackles and pops.

I too find that it’s higher pitched than I prefer and like a deeper tone. Have been considering Borla s-type but want to hear it in person not on a sound clip. I’ve posted before. Nearest person that responded is 4-5 hours away. I don’t mind the pops and crackles and if I don’t want to draw attention I just keep the rpm’s below 3000.

Touring mode is what you want, my friend.
