My Cruze (Same 1.4L T in the sonic) has had a rough idle twice. First go around, the coil pack broke and it was miss firing quite a bit. Second go around, the PCV Check valve collapsed and was making the car lean out big time.

The PCV check valve is a known problem with the engine. The check valve is under the engine cover on the valve covers. If it's that, you have to have the whole valve cover replaced (Which isn't as bad as it seems and is covered under warranty).

Both times my cruze had the rough idle, my dealer said it was all in my head and they didn't find a problem. I had to go out of my way to diagnose it and tell them what was broken. Even then, they were still fighting me and saying that it was all normal.
