You'll be fine , just drive with a lighter throttle at least until they warm up. Michelin recommends not driving in Temps below 20 degrees Fahrenheit. That is for the pilot super sport tires, probably applies to all their high performance summer tires. If driven in Temps below 20 than cracking could occur

In order to get your car home, so long as the roads are actually clear, you will be fine. Take your time as the car can and will get squirrely REALLY quick in those conditions. I had to drive mine about 15-20 miles last January to the dealership and the temps were in the 20's. Pulling out from one road onto another while making the turn was interesting in a few situations before I realized that the car just simply had no grip.

Also, be on the lookout for wheel-eating potholes.

If you are worried about too much throttle, put it in snow/ice mode. It does make a difference.

I drive mine in the cold weather all the time with the stock tires. No problems if you drive normal. On the ZL1 I had though those tires were so soft and sticky, some people had theirs physically crack in the super cold.

It will be dangerous but doable if there is no snow on the road. FYI my stock Goodyear runflats that came with the 2SS would want to "peel out" even at 55-60 degrees beyond anything but minimal throttle, and absolutely detested rain, so you have to be super careful.

I believe there is no shame in doing 35-40 in the right lane with your hazards on for this single trip, if you have to.

To your other point, I would absolutely buy different tires ASAP, probably all-seasons if I wanted to drive almost all year round in Chicago.

If its dry, its not terrible but not great either. You can drive the speed limit just fine. The issues come in when you have to accelerate quickly to merge into high speed traffic or if you have to suddenly stop.

If its wet or especially icy.. ..its horrible.

Of course, you're not supposed to drive with summer tires in the winter. Having had a Gen 5 and Gen 6 with summer tires for ten years... and even a shitty 07 Mustang GT before those vehicles also with summer tires, you can just be careful.

Put the setting in snow and ice mode [which I do even when it's raining in the summer] and drive like an old lady...or an old man with a hat and you'll be fine.

The Camaro is not my daily driver and I don't have a battery tender in my apartment garage so I take the car out in between snow storms weekly if possible to keep the battery charged.

If your new Camaro is your daily driver then definitely swap out the tires.

Go slow and you'l be OK...unless there's snow or ice on the road. In that case. wait for a warmer day.

i got caught at work in a freak snow storm in my 2ss with stock tires, 30 miles from home (i live in alabama, we dont get snow often, if at all), and i made it home, albeit at about 15 mph. I had to cross literally 10 freeway bridges, and im pretty sure my ass ate part of my seat by time i got there, but i made it. by time i got home, we had about 1-2 inches of snow/ice on the roads, and a 35 minute drive ended up taking me almost 2 hours. the tires had about 12k on them at the time, with no burnouts or hard corners yet.

it wasn't fun at all, but i did make it.

For that one way drive home you'll be OK. Anything else and you'll need to get at least all seasons, though they are useless if there's more than a couple of inches of snow on the road.

Any damage to a summer tire due to cold weather isn't covered by the warranty. But the bigger question is, why use summer tires in cold weather if you can't use them to their full performance capability? If you are going to drive in weather under 40F, have 2 sets of tires on rims. It's part of the cost of sports car ownership.

Here in Canada our dealers put away all Camaros and Corvettes with runflat tires and your not allowed to test drive them when it gets lower then 32 degrees F ...... here is a GM Bulletin ...... GM bulletin #13-03-10-001A: "Information on Tire Cold Weather Cracking" – (Jan 30, 2014) advises “avoid driving, moving, or test-driving vehicles equipped with high-performance summer-only tires below 20º F as operating at these temperatures can cause damage to the tires.” The car models affected include the 2012-2014 Buick Regal GS, 2014 Cadillac CTS Vsport, 2012-2014 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and Z/28, 2014-2014 Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE, and the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and Stingray Z51, and SS sedan.

Dont know if this stands but when i went to my GM dealer when it was cold I asked where all the camaros went and was told they put them all in storage till spring ... They dont want anyone to come down to test drive them

I drove approximately 45 miles which was 90% interstate so there wasn't a lot of stop and go in 35 degree weather on a clear and nice night. At least being at night there wasn't much traffic on the road.
Salesman explained to me about the tire issues which I knew about anyway.
Just took my time and enjoyed the ride....... you should be fine depending on conditions.
