Black out muffler suitcase

Has anyone done anything to black out the muffler?

i was looking at my cars butt the other day, you know, as one does... and noticing that the muffler is quite visible below the rear 'skirt'. Sorry, no picture handy yet. maybe i'll snap one when i get home.

I was thinking that maybe something as simple as a high heat black paint might be the way to go? or maybe i'll just leave it alone?

I don't see any reason why you couldn't paint it with a good prep job. I agree though the silver looks horrible but mine only stayed on the car for about a week. :-)

A few people have done it. Search is your friend.

Painted suitcase looks so much better - it turns that dirty can look into something that optically blends with car chassis.

I used this:
Rust-Oleum

Search here is pretty horrible. or, more probable, my search-fu is horrible.

It either doesnt work at all, and when it does it returns results based on each word, not the whole phrase. so its flooded with irrelevant results.

I have same issue, a lot of people are quick to say "use the search button" but half the time when I try searching I get an error message saying Camaro6 can't load the page (internet is fine otherwise). Or I get tons of irrelevant posts that I still have to sift through. Easier just to make a post asking the question again. Worst case people link you to the relevant threads, best case they actually answer your post.

As for the muffler, I was thinking of doing the exact same thing.

Pressure wash it first, dry it, and then scuff with some scotchbright. Then spray it with some flat black high temp paint.

Here you go fellas - a photo of the finished product. I painted the muffler and the inside of the exhaust tips over four years age. They all still look good. This is a simple and cheap mod. Manaxmann copied the link to my thread on this in his post.

Here's the link again in case you missed it: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=449719

New discussion is always good, but as a tip for searching, just append camaro6 to the end of any search from your preferred search engine and you will get camaro6 related posts.

Best solution is just get an aftermarket catback or axleback with black tips (Corsa, AWE). IMO it will be unsightly regardless, just less so if painted black. I understand that this route is a lot cheaper than an aftermarket exhaust, and imo simple axlebacks are ridiculously priced now a days, but I still find it better than paint.
