Do they let Gen v powered mustangs in here? Lots of data eventually. - Page 4

we have been having some fun with the car. 2 weeks ago we had a little mishap, i left the lock up on after playing on the dyno and our first trip down the track in shifted and locked up at the same time which the motor did not like at all. ended up with 2 bent rods. for a fix we just replaced the 2 bent rods with stock rods and did stock head gaskets and stock tty held bolts. i am still calling this motor 100% stock. it has stock ring gap, dod, vvt, stock cam and valve springs...

2 days ago we made it back to the track and worked on our 60' all night. we got a small wheelie one pass and were all excited. next pass had a moderate wheelie. pretty soon we had too much and it was slowing us down. after some adjustments we were getting good 60's without any wheelie. next would be more power off the line and try and knock that 60' down more but we were losing oil pressure on the launch. this time slip was at 18psi.

we have a holley swap pan on the car. i didn't realize they have a drag version of this pan with extra baffles. we are going to try that and see if it fixes our issue.

we are gather parts for a drop in rod and piston 6.2 with a cam and stock heads from a 6.6. much of this we have laying around. we want to break the 100% stock 5.3 properly before stepping up. anyone want to guess how far the stock l83 is going to go before giving up?

Great information... but one question... why would a Mustang guy post anything in a Camaro forum? I am sure there are Mustang forums he can post too

Because Parish is not a Mustang guy. He has been on this forum since 2010. He likes to make cars go fast with GM power - Camaro or not. I’m cool with it. Parish- keep posting. I love to reading about your journey with this car.

Not just a gm motor but a gen v small block Chevy like everyone around here is running. I hope to creep up on and find the limit of a stock l83 and a then creep up and find a the limit on a budget build 6.2 and eventually if we ever do blow that up step up do a iron L8t and see how far we can go with that.

Seems like some people running this engine family would find this info interesting.

Regardless on how long you been on this forum (like that really does not matter) why not put a Ford 427(351) in the Mustang? GM power in a Mustang?... yeah ok

Do have a question for Parish8 though... I saw the oil pressure in the chart... what is it at idle and start?

Keep bringing the Gen V lt content, we can all benefit from it. Working my way up trying to get faster with my current turbo build I'm really jealous of the light chassis, glide etc you got going with that setup.

Guess its OK now to post GM power in rice burners too!

Cause he wanted to improve on a Fords reliability and make it fast. Best way to do that is why Chevrolet

parts . I have a buddy with an LS swapped fox body and it is really cool.

Because he has for years put interesting content on this forum - especially about using turbos with GM motors. And I see that you do have an on-topic question and interest after all.

Wheels up always looks good but as mentioned there’s a point when it does slow you down. However, you’re getting good traction. Are you on a 275?

Are you running pump E, race fuel or a mix? Also did you find the 100 HP mentioned earlier in the thread?
