LT1 boost
How much boost can a SBE lt1 withstand? And which pistons/rods would be best/ what do I need to replace to run a solid amount of boost?

Pistons/rods are your choice but quality forgings are the order of the day. GPI drop-ins gets plenty of love but for good reason…they take a pounding.

And if your going to open the bottom end, consider replacing the cam and DoD delete with quality lifters as well. Just like Josh said, keep the boost low (7-8PSI) if you want to live longer, but I even have seen stock aluminum pistons fail at that low boost too. Plan out your end HP goals and wallet/budget before going down this slippery slope
It is never ending

I think it depends on how much E you run too... and maybe the type of blower you use. I would NEVER try to do 11.5 psi on 93 octane, but so far 11.5 psi PEAK on a centri with E70+ seems "fine".
My rationale for going as high as 11.5 psi with a centri is that it only hits 11.5 psi at the very top of the rpm range, so after shift, its back down to around 8 or 9 psi and ramps back up... so if you look at average boost, its more like 10 psi average. Compared to how i think the PD works where it'd see a solid 11.5 psi the entire time. I dont know if that reasoning is sound, or wishful thinking... my point being... the answer to your question is.... it depends

I'm running about 11 to 11.5 psi pretty safely. Logs look good and we are making 707 at the wheels with Toohighpsi port injection, Maggie 2300 from SCOL on E85 (E65 in our area). I had a 16ss that we exceeded the amount of boost anyone should run on a stock Lt1, I had to pay the fiddle for that 18 psi we were running. However that motor can take a lot with good tuning, Vp race fuel and a lot of Meth/water injection. I did get 180 passes out of that motor and 12,500 miles so it can take a lot, but you'll eventually have to make a choice, lower boost for real longevity or breaking pistons cause you were drunk on drag racing and boost. Take the longevity.

7psi on pump gas, 10-11psi on E50+.

I would say I'm tuned on the very safe side running 9.5lbs of boost on a stock block with all bolt ons.

I have a stock 5.3 “lt” at 19psi. I think people blow their stuff up a lower boost because they run out of fuel or not enough octane. Get set up for e85 and run it rich and it will take a lot.

I think you have your answer, 9 to 12 psi should be safe with a good tuner. Plus you'll have your hands full with 11 psi on the street. You'll need to run a drag radial like the Nitto 555r2. King and I run the 305-35-20 555R2. They do a great job plus the wear really well with a good alignment. Go for it.

I would love to have a 315 but I'm running the 9.5 SS twisted slip 20s. The 305s are almost to wide for them. Maybe someday I'll send the 20s to get them widened. I really like the looks of the wheel. I'm assuming you have an aftermarket 10 or 10.5 wheel.

A 305 on a 9.5 just squishes the tire till its not near as wide now. Measure before and after. Its not even worth it been their done that
