I went to numerous dealers, nobody was moving on price, what can I say ..... Well most of the Qualifiers I don't qualify for so there you have it ... I guess I'll stick to my original plan, Hammerhead Rear upgrade and Turbo in the spring time ....

Get off my lawn you young punks!

I don't fit into your mold, I do wear skinny jeans and I do listen to music you wouldn't like, but I love high performance sports cars. I love classics, my summer activity is taking my Camaro to the local car shows and spending the time admiring all the automobiles and talking to typically older guys about cars.

The bigger issue today is the wage gap. I have a cushy job that I love and have been at for 6 years. But the pay is mediocre and I make over triple an hour when I do it on the side. Really the only way I can afford the car that I have is because I work the two jobs that I do, I have an inexpensive house, and I have excellent credit that I've built up over the past several years after college.

Join Costco for $50 and you can get the same pricing as supplier. Join the Farm Bureau of your state for $35 and you get $500 off...etc, etc...the savings are there, you just need to know where to look.

Yeah right, a four year production run on a niche sports coupe. More like 2022 I would think.
2020 could still make sense. 5th gen only had a five model year production run. By late 2020, a 2021 7th gen Camaro is well within the realm of possibility. Especially considering GM hasn't exactly been slow with launching 6th gen variants (Convertible, 1LEs, ZL1, etc).

I could see an MCE in MY2019 with an all new model for MY2021.

I see that but the 8% sales tax we have here in Phila, PA will make a $500 Farmers discount look like a waste of time, especially on a $40,000 car .....

I guess I'll say it again, it has nothing to do with these cars being expensive. Mercedes-Benz BMW and other Expensive choices semi sports cars that are sedans are not doing badly WITH MILLENIALS. It has to do with the fundamental shift away from sports cars by the earlier generations. Just my opinion, but it comes from talking to dealers every day about this… it was said well above, they just don't see the benefit of putting big monthly payments into something but goes faster and turns better. It's just not on their list of priorities. luxury and gadgets ARE on their list.

I'm sticking with my 2013 2LT Camaro and going to drop in a rear and add a Turbo in the spring, all these overly inflated prices just solidified my decision ...... plus I really like my 5th Gen .... I'll post pics when I add the rear .....

A lot of it is, like mentioned, saturation of the segment. Particularly with Mustang and their business model.

Oil is down in price, meaning cheaper fuel, and those looking for a vehicle are now likely looking for something regular/utility...

The younger generations also seem to be less enthusiastic of driving sports cars, too (also mentioned).

So, I'm on autotrader and they have numerous Camaro SS from $57K to $59K but then a ZL1 from $60K to $64K. Why would you spend $59K on a SS when $1K more gets you a ZL1. Surely the SS's will come down in price?

This was the part that was most interesting. "New Investment" to the tune of 900 million with a new ATS, CTS in 2019 and the Camaro shortly after.

GM is committed to rear drive sporty cars and the three are tied together. The timing likely related to the upcoming CAFE changes

See this with all my friends... I'm 32 and the only car guy i know (personally and except my father) Most of my friends I didn't bother telling when I bought the 6th gen this year... The ones I did tell could only ask 'why?' Most are too busy on a smart phone to even lift their heads when a (insert amazing sounding car here) drives by

My convertible 2ss with a sticker price of $56,645 was $40,500 plus tax instead of paying full MSRP for a coupe ZL1 with not as many options as my car has would probably be one good reason. Only reason I bought brand new instead of waiting a couple of years for a nice used 6th gen is because of the deals on the 2016's. Came into my budget for a " toy " that won't be a daily driver. But yes as a whole new car prices are getting out of reach for a lot of people.
