Installed my Rx about a month ago and finally go the chance to drive it. So far everything went well and I didn't have any problems.

I just checked my Elite catch can after having about a 1000 miles on it and was shocked by the findings!!! My car has about 13000 miles on it and I drive 60 miles a day most of it on the interstate running 70 mph, should i be concerned about the amount found???

Well, the answers and opinions will vary widely from - "no big deal thats what the catch can is for" to "OMG you've got a problem".

So, I'll just share my personal experience and perspective. I've come to terms that if my first catch drain rate would continue as such it would be at least 6000 miles or more (1 oz every 200 miles X 32 oz in a quart = 6400 miles) until I pulled a quart of stuff into my can -mostly oil but also condensation and fuel vapors blow by. So I change my oil every 6000 miles and would be down less than a quart at the oil change at this rate. Not bad - certainly acceptable.

I have since put this on my list of things to not worry about other than I check my oil level more often. So far the dipstick readings after another 800 to 900 miles since that first drain have shown no obvious loss of oil. I've bee told by many that LX engines do push blow by at high rpms and I do wind mine out as much or more as many. So my catch can keeps the results of all my fun out of the intake manifold.

Thanks for your reply, I feal a little bit better about the oil found. I guess I will check it in a couple of weeks before I stress out about it. My car had 2500 miles on it when I bought it so I really don't know how it was broke in. I wish I would of bought a catch can when I first bought my car. At least now all that oil is staying out of the intake manifold.

The oil I caught looks and smells like used oil. Nothing foamy or gasoline smelling about it. No unusual crude in it - just plain old oil.

Thoughts? About right? Too much? Who knows?

How did you break your car in?

Scary I think you should have this looked into. Seems like quite a lot for 1000 miles.

Yours catches to much oil and mine doesn't catch oil at all. I have had my RX can since Dec-11 and it has been a pain in the a$$, it has not caught one drop of oil. I have talked to Tracy several times, but cannot get mine to work. What a pain in the A$$

I had a Mike Norris can with just bolt on and it would catch about 1/2" of oil every 3 month. Thats way to much.

I wish you were close enough for you to stop in with the car so we can see why your not....with over 10,000 of these in use there has got to be an issue were missing.

Any chance you will be in the Sarasota/Tampa area in the near future? This will help us as much as you to detrimine why your not catching oil.

99% of those with the same symptom have the drain valve mistakenly left open, but I'm sure you have checked it multiple times (we use the same one the Norris can uses).

I can also send you a replacement fitting to try and see if you may have a faulty valve.

Let me know....this baffels me just as much as you.

I just emptied my Elite catch can after 3000 miles and i got 1" of oil in the can. That doesn't seem like too much.

Yeah those amounts look real bad. I have went thru 4 sets of rear tires at 41K miles and my catch can never has more than 1-2 oz after every 3000 miles.

Tracy, I wish I was little closer to you. I know you make a great product. I am just a little frustrated, because we have gone over everything several times, and no luck. You even sent me 2 new check valves, last time we spoke and still nothing. Something has to be wrong with my can
