My best lap was the my first and only lap in my students GTR @ 1:37. As far as a beginner in a camaro, you would likely be in the 1:5x range and might be able to get it down below 1:50 by the end of the day. The ZL 1LE time is great @ 1:34, but every ZL1 i have driven out there is a one or two lap hero, due to heat issues.

Interesting.. Very first time I have heard of any heat soak in the almost year this car has been out on sale.

And more power to them if it’s gonna keep GM alive and well and producing amazing cars like the ZL1. But that beautiful wedge shape of the C6....
I sold my ZR1 several months ago.....miss the hell out of it. An amazing car for sure and the styling is timeless. I like that it's more of an analog/simple car compared to the C7. I'm not a fan of all the bells and whistles on new cars, but that's just me. And you can get a low mile/perfect condition car for low to mid 60s.....it's a no brainer......

Tour mode has "lighter steering" which he has stated he prefers over the "heavy" feeling steering on track mode.

As much as I love my SS 1LE and the new ZL1 1LE, I'm still most impressed by the 2012 / 13 Z06 with Z07. Older version F55 Mag Ride, not much aero, way down on power, less overall tire footprint, regular diff, no rev match, etc. Shows you what light weight, small frontal area, etc. does.
Absolutely. I spoke, at length, with Jim Mero about the carbon edition C6Z when he ran it at the nurburgring. He spoke very highly of the car and said even though the ZR1 beat it's ring time, that he felt a huge degree of confidence in the Z06 that allowed him to really push it mid corner and corner exit. He said the ZR1 was a lot more car to manage, so it used it's power to make up for that exit speed in the straights.

While the C6 chassis still had a lot of inherent push and lacked steering preciseness, it also instilled a lot of confidence. I have the C5Z and a C6 Z51, those cars don't want to hurt you unless you are really careless. You can get to 9/10's of their performance pretty much risk free.
