I did mine last Spring (indexed the plugs actually).
To get access to them I had to remove the intake manifold.
I tried everything I could think of first, but in the end that's what it took.

Before you panic, it is pretty simple and fast to do.
It is only held on by a few bolts from the top side and comes right off.
Because it is made of plastic, it weighs very little.
And you can look for evidence of any air leakage on the manifold-to-head rubber gaskets while you're at it.

Next you will have to disconnect a few wires and hoses and peel back the foam sound padding carefully.
I decided to make a couple of scissor cuts in the padding to avoid having to remove a larger item or two, but that is optional.

GM, for all the really good things they did do in this design, did not make the plugs easy to get to.
But I have seen worse.

After doing whatever it is you want to do with the plugs, everything settles back into place, the manifold goes back on, and all is good again.
A couple of strips of duct tape will help knit the foam back together if you have chosen to cut it.

I don't have photos, sorry.
But I hope this helps you.
