A Dark Green on a 1LE would be mean.

I agree, there are not enough of the bright fun colors to choose from. When I was shopping for my ZL1, I had originally decided I wanted one in white. When I got to the dealership and saw one in Krypton Green sitting on the showroom floor, I couldn't stop looking at it and ultimately drove that baby out of there the very same day

I'd like to see retro colors make a comeback like mint green and teal in the auto industry. They're making a comeback in some higher-end metal kitchen appliances but would look great on modern cars too.

They are not making a comeback in high end appliances, in fact enamels are the high end option once you get past the common Wolfe and Thermador lines...

There's like one manufacturer that makes some retro looking bs in that color and they sell basically none of them.

I think our definitions of "high end" are very different, then. To me, anything that's not predominately plastic is high-end. Now, if we're talking about ranges and fridges that cost the same as a cheap car, I just pretend that stuff doesn't exist because I can't afford it.

Well, have a gander here:

http://lacornueusa.com/home

Makes Thermador/Wolfe/the other 'high-end' options available at Best Buy seem decidedly... pedestrian, doesn't it?

(these go up to the price of an expensive car, way past cheap car prices)

The Track Concept they showed at Geneva in 2017 had this amazing green, it was so delicious in person such a shame they don't make it in this color

Now that's what I'm talking about. I don't get it -- if you can paint a house in millions of shades, why can't an assembly line do to-order colors? I understand that this would be a slower process due to maybe having to purge and clean spraying equipment between runs, but that's where the price premium could cover it.

Maybe this is a sign that VW has designed some new process that works better at scale. As you said, hopefully other manufacturers follow.

Camaro only offers 7 or 8 exterior colors..Dodge Challenger is offering 15!!! Many are old skool colors too! Dodge has be using the same body for years but each year they come out with another outrageous performance option and get gobs of publicty for it. Brilliant marketing. And people wonder why they now outsell Camaro. Camaro make a great car but their marketing absolutely sucks!
