The problem with this world is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be penalties for stupidity,
but why don't we just take the warning labels off everything and let the problem solve itself.

I have a scooter too. Fully built Honda Ruckus I bought at a drug seizure auction. I estimate the dude had about $12,000 in this thing. It will hit 85-90 mph if you have the huevos.

Just took my 2018 2SS 1LE out of 5 months of winter storage. I used Transport Mode as there was no socket available for my battery tender.

The battery did not skip a beat. The car unlocked via the remote, the lights came on strong and the displays lit up. The remote also unlocked the trunk.

I used the sequence to take it out of Transport Mode to start it up. It fired up right away. Battery gauge shows 14.5.

I'm very pleased.

I'm not saying there is or was any problem with your battery, but if your dash gauge shows 14.5 V when the engine is running, that is not an indication of the state of charge of your battery after sitting for 5 months. That's telling you the charging system is applying enough voltage for the electrical system to read 14.5 volts at that moment. You had no trouble starting your car, so your battery probably would have read between 12.65 V (100% charge) and 12.0 V (50% charge) right before you started it. Anyway, it's good the car started after sitting that long.

Glad I saw this. I was wondering what to do about the battery for winter storage. I was going to pull it and leave the trunk open.

Neat, but I don't think I could get away with this transport mode, my garage gets reeeeall m.f.'n cold during the winter, so I will stick with the tender apparatus. only took me 10 or 15 mins to rig up and it worked just fine last season leaving it hang up out of the hood by the windshield wiper to an extension cord hanging from the rafter.

Great info. I will be storing the car for 1-2 months and I prefer this than having to disconnect the battery. Wish I new it before.

Does anyone know what this "transport mode" shuts down? I would be interested to know.

I'm going to bump this old thread so that others can see it. It's so easy to enter transport mode and I'm hoping/assuming it's going to help with my currently-stored car.

I would not use the transport mode for winter storage. My car was dead. Battery had 5 volts in it after sitting for 4+ months in trans mode. I will un hook the battery next year when it has to be stored again

I haven’t tried transport mode so I can’t say if it’s a good fit for my storage timeline (4 and a half months). I put a trickle charger on and left it at that.
