Purchase Advice
I'm looking at purchasing my first Camaro.
-Certified PreOwned -1 owner -2017 2LT (Auto I4 Turbo) -Around 3,000 miles -Price: 26,500k Trim Options: -RS Package -Cooling & Brake Package -Convenience & Lighting Package -Safety Package (Blindside Assist ,etc) -Full-Loaded Vs. (option #2) 1 owner (garage kept) -2017 1LT (V6 Auto) -Around 5,000 miles -Price: 26,500k Trim Options: -MoonRoof -RS Package -Fully Loaded This is my 1st post and 1st "potential" Camaro, (coming from an Acura). I don't have a ton of knowledge except for the week-long research I've been doing. So any positive advice is welcome. I have purchased several cars in the pass, so I am not a novice at that, just want to get the best Camaro for the best price. Thanks in Advance. Last edited by MrTee12; 10-14-2018 at 11:51 AM. |

It really depends on what you're looking for to be honest.
If you don't care about warranty, want to mod and make a tuner - turbo 4. If you care about warranty, happy with factory power and looking for a sporty and quick DD, V6. As for the packages, I'll say this.. I originally bought a 1LT V6 which cloth seats, no bose, no sunroof, no blondspots or 8" screen... Then to a 2SS -- ... and the extra options... I dont really use. I hardly ever pay attention to the blind spotz, I havent turned the radio on in months, its too hot in TX to use the sunroof and don't have a passenger for the dual climate. So sometimes all the options can be alittle overkill, or purchasing stuff which you really won't ever use. If it were me, I would just go with the V6. |

Go with the V6..You won't be disappointed..I had the 2016 V6..at 335 h.p. that thing was fast, had it for nearly 3 years. Nice little growl to it with the stock exhaust, non-npp...

Of these two, I would buy the I4.
The V6 is an excellent motor despite the much lower modding potential, it does pull if you wind it out (I had it). However, that car is a base model, and I for one would never be happy with the base gauge cluster and radio, the cloth seats are inferior, plus the HUD is awesome and the blind spot monitoring is very beneficial for first time Camaro drivers. Putting on an aftermarket exhaust can mitigate what the I4 lacks in the sound department, so there's that as well. The other potentially important thing is the auto vs manual trans decision, because if I read this correctly, the V6 has the latter, so if you're a manual guy, there is no question about which one to choose. If you're like me (ie not overly excited by the prospect of shifting in traffic after all those years), the A8 is a good transmission and its only major flaw will hopefully have a permanent solution soon. Just my 2 cents'.

I have not owed either of these models but I would consider if options are important to you. If not the V6 and if it is a manual would be a lot of fun to drive. If it is not a manual and you can drive one stay away from the A8. It is prone to Torque Converter shutter. I and many others have had the issue. If you do get the A8 then get an extended warranty.

I had a 2017 1LT RS v6 A8, had no issues whatsoever. Fantastic car for the $$, but I paid $26k BRAND NEW. No sunroof, a few other minor options, but wasn't a 2LT -something-or-other by any means.
(dealer said he'd wait 2 weeks before calling the cops??!!) I traded it, and got good $$ for it on a 1SS---after I made the mistake of a test-drive !!! The immediate vicinity around here, the SS's aren't discounted like the 4's and 6's. If I was going after the 6 you list, I'd hit the owner for $18-20K after a favorable test drive. (my 2 cents) After all, it's essentially 2 years old now. |

can you test drive the T4 and V6 to see which you would rather own? as a 6 cylinder owner i might be biased, but the 6 sounds good and runs on regular fuel while the turbo is supposed to use premium.did get to drive the turbo 4 and it was quicker than i thought it would be off stoplights.eqipment wise its a wash, only thing i dont really use are the seat warmers, but i live in florida.

Before you buy, test drive the SS/V6/and the turbo. All can be had in your price range.

I was gonna say get the V6, but if coming from an Acura the Turbo 4 Camaro should be a huge improvement. |

The V8 will hold it's value longer and better more than any of them. For a DD and if you are on a budget, get the V6- it runs on regular gas and you can get 30 and up MPG. And only due to my problems with my A8, I would recommend manual transmission.
