Oil Level Question

Hi all,

I did a search but could not find a specific answer. I have a V6 LT2 that has been sitting for a few months (since about 06/2018). I had picked up a pickup as my DD. I took the Camaro out a few times and I've notice the oil level has went down every time. When I first parked it the oil read around 40%, next time 20%, then 10%, and now 0%. I just checked the oil level and it seem find. I should have at least 2k more miles out of it.

Is time a factor in the 2016s when it comes the the oil level readout on the dash?

Thanks all
-Cain

Yes, it will go down over time even if you don’t drive it.

The oil life meter reads many things, including time since the last reset, idling, hard driving, etc.

So yes, it is telling you 1 mile or 7500 miles it should be changed after so many months regardless.

Yes, time is one of the factors. The OLM will go to 0% after 12 months if driven low/no miles.

Oil level/ Oil life

You said oil level, I guess you mean oil life. Yes it goes down over time but you should change your oil at least every 12 months regardless of miles driven.

If it has been sitting that long It's suggested you park it with fresh oil.
