Prepare yourself for unhappiness. At least half of production will be LT versions, and very few of the LT versions will be retail sold orders. Both retail and stock orders will be shipped together which means a lot of units will appear on the lots waiting for a buyer to walk in off the street to be purchased.

The first weeks will ship out together anyway, retail sold order along with stock orders. They will probably hit in a lot of places at the same time.

Very true. I have yet to decide if the hold at the beginning of a model year is for quality control (I do believe extra quality checks do take place) or to have enough builds that dealers across the country have reason to expect some.

I suspect it is a combination of both.

So, is there a chance that somebody can buy my car that I already put a deposit down and have an order number, TPW, etc...?

I am Extremely nervous about this.

Then will I get the run around story from the dealer telling me that my car didn't come in yet.

Your car with your Vin that is associated with your order will be secure.

There is a possibility that General stock orders may come and go before your car gets to you however.

OOps forgot about that VIN number. Thanks for reminding me!
But, if I had an allocation number why would my dealership receive other cars BEFORE mine. If they only had 4 allocations available and mine was number 4 on the list and they receive 4 new 2016 Camaros WHY would my car not come in with the other 3 (three) cars?

Lot's of reasons. Your car could have been ordered a few days later and gotten a different TPW. You may have ordered an option that put it later in the schedule. Your car may even get held for additional QA inspections. There are lots of things that can happen between order date and delivery.

Bingo.

Getting first allocation does not mean you get the first car that hits the lot. GM gets the order, and assigns a built date when they see fit depending on what you ordered. Just strap on some patience and have fun in the mean time. Another month from now, things are going to be really interesting.

...and hey...two Fridays from now we get the magazine reviews to read and salivate over, so there is that lol.
