Both the V8 and V6 Camaro are competing in Motor Trend's COTY
Motor Trend's Jonny Lieberman Tweeted this picture on Saturday 9/19 with the caption "Car of the Year starts NOW!!! We got some Chevys.. #COTY #CHEVY"
 Over the weekend I caught a couple of Periscopes from Motor Trend that included the new BMW 750i and some other cars. Tonight, however, there was a Periscope of a first person view of driving the 2016 Camaro SS around the Honda Proving Grounds. It included mostly choreographed maneuvers for filming but at one point, the driver was instructed to do a fly-by. And that he did. Fairly well too. The driver effortlessly passed the camera car and took it to 127 MPH. I could only get a couple screen caps from the Periscope as it was deleted shortly after airing live. Yup... press have the cars and awesome to see it in MT's COTY running. I am sure this is an additional story on top of their preview, which must be good as it made the COTY breakdown. Damn you long lead press.

Pretty sweet!
I would hope that if they are going to do the SS and the V6 (or the 2.0) that they would include the third car as well. Why do just two of the three? Oh wells...still glad to see these cars made it to the event. I see the new Malibu is there as well. I think it will be difficult for the Camaro to win COTY when results are spread across all different types of cars, but you never know?

Well we're lucky enough that they're even doing two models. Actually the third car could be hiding outside the photo, lol.
I'm thinking its the 4cyl. With its light weight, it must be such a departure from the SS that it was worth it to include both in the competition. |
