Is this from shipping?
Got around to finally detailing the car with rinseless wash (thanks Glenn) and noticed this on both lower quarter panels (just aft of the doors). Is this some kind of protective coating from shipping that the dealer missed removing?

That was going to be my next question. I haven't got any splash guards yet but this looks like it might protect the panels from chips.

It does. I wondered about it too and took it back to the dealer. They said they are supposed to be there.

It's from factory. C7s have them as well. Pretty crappy quality but better than nothing!

Yep on my list.
Thanks guys. Just wanted to be sure it wasn't something that should have been removed. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk

I even have it in front of my rear wheels on my Sierra... Actually wish the sections they used were a tad bigger for more protection...

GM has used that clear film stone chip protection for years. It's not new to the C7 or the 6G Camaro but it is a good idea.
As others have said though, you DEFINITELY NEED the splash guards for better protection. They will keep the majority of stones from even hitting your car.

It does not help much, I still have chips above the film. They should have made it a bit higher.

Yeah. I'm at 2800 miles with the splash gaurds and see no signs of damage on, or above the film.

Yeah those are supposed to be there for some rock protection, they do a decent job, nothing great though.

I plan on having that redone with better film and I will make it higher, and on the other side as well. I will not put splash guards/mud flaps on my car.
