800+hp on fully built LS3??

Anyone out there rebuild there LS3 and making 800+rwhp on 91 octane? Im ready to rebuild my engine. But im not sure what way to go as cost is a factor. I can get a 418 LS3 built for around $9k plus install labor. I would add twin turbos. My question is will I be pretty much be able to make 800+ with my current 376 fully built?

As a side note, how much power can i squeeze out of a maggie?

I am running a fully built LS-3, including the LS-3 factory head casting...

My block has been sleeved and has fully forged internals...

The heads were re-worked by a hugely succesful head builder, and the LS-3 castings will flow up to and a little over 390 CFM... I know this personally...

Does the quoted price you mention include heads, or is that just for the shortblock...

With twin turbo's, and a hugely conservative tune, running 12 lb's of boost, I am making right at 800 HP... We are only running 12 degrees of timing... The dyno showed we can add at least 100+ HP just by cranking in more timing... We were waiting for more miles on the motor before we pushed her that hard... When I get home from Brazil, we will probably add some race fuel and see what she is capable of....

There are a few guys running Cog driven Blowers making 18 lbs of boost, and making huge power as well... but thats the limit of my blower knowledge...

It was just under $9k for the longblock. I'm trying to figure out if I can make 800 by just forging the bottom end of my current block, or i should go with the 418

I was in the same boat as you, trying to decide between rebuilding my 376, or purchasing a new 418. I talked with a few shops, told them my overall goals for the car, and ended up going with the 418 because as we all know there's just no replacement for displacement. That, and the cost difference between rebuilding my engine and dropping a brand new one was small enough I felt justified in just replacing it. When it's done I'll have my original LS3 sitting around to put in something else later. I'm planning the same route for the future, TT making high HP; and I felt a fully forged 418 is the way to go for my goals. Don't forget, you have to add in associated costs for new drivetrain parts (diff., axles, shaft, posibly a tranny) and a fuel system that will keep it juiced. I'd say new motor all the way, but in the end it's about personal preference and what you can afford. Find a reputable shop you feel comfortable with and talk with them about your intentions and goals for the car, cause knowledge is power too.

There's a shop on here that has made 700whp on the STOCK bottom end. Granted they backed it back down, but just goes to show you what's possible. If you fully forge your bottom end and drop the CR down a tad, 800whp shouldn't be a problem. I'd suggest you cruise the FI section and see what others are doing. Might give you some ideas.

We have 800 rwhp on a stock LS3, the only internal mod is the cam pkg.

Let me know what you end up doing. I am kind of to the point where you are and I would like to get to 700whp safely without finding myself on the side of the road.

you could make 800 easy with just forged rods/pistons using stock crank tbh with a turbo setup.

edit:didnt see 91 octane.. no e85 in cali?

There seems to be a rash of resurrecting old threads these day. Typically your good friend is the one doing it.
