New wheels damaged/blemished from vendor

I recently purchased a spare set of wheels, and they arrived with minor scratches and blemishes in the finish. Before i complain to the vendor (which i probably should anyway) i wanted to know if anyone else has seen this issue and if you've been able to polish or buff out the scratches? Each wheel came packaged in its own box with styrofoam protecting both the front face and the back of the rim. The front face had a piece of "wax-like" paper over it before the styrofoam wash put on. I think they vibrated in shipping and it damaged the finish. I tried using Meguiars 205 fine cut polishing compound and it did improve them a bit, but all four wheels are like this. I shouldn't have to polish a set wheels that cost almost $2000.

Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas on repairing the finish?

This is what one area looks like after being polished with the Meguiars 205

Notice there is still significant scratching/blemishes

Looking at those pictures again I would have to agree with sending them back, mainly because of all the stuff on the spokes. Do you know if these wheels are made in China?? Most are these days. If so it's hard to say if the finish will get much better. When I was in that business they had the styrofoam packing, plastic, and a plastic ring to hold the plastic sheeting on the wheels. Of course back then a high percentage of wheels were still built in the US.

Not sure if these are made in china. They are 50th Anniversary wheels from a chevy dealer.

Question. Are these possibly take off wheels from a '17 50th Camaro that you bought from a Chevy dealer? I would expect blemishes and light scratches if they are take offs. Just reading your post and wondered. BTW the polishing you did made them look better! Good luck!

They came in unopened boxes and show no signs of paint damage around where the lug-nuts would hold them on, so i don't think they're take offs. They are making it right and refunding some money to avoid having to ship them back and forth, and to cover expense and time in polishing. Here is another shot from a more thorough polish. Used Meguiers 105 and 205 to get the desired result. Did them by hand with light pressure. Pleased with the results.
