2017 SS LT1 Engine for sale - Needs Work $1,000

Quick backstory. I bought a 2018 SS 1LE with 17k miles, from a dealer in TX. The car ran great at low revs, but at high revs it leaks oil from the front crank seal. I took it to Chevy who told me that this car had obviously been modified to run a turbo and then taken back to stock to sell and subsequently they won’t warranty it – the exhaust has been cut off and then rewelded, so it’s probably true. I had every intention of modifying the car to be a higher HP NA track car anyway, so I did a deal with the seller for some $$ back and ordered an LS376/535 crate engine, headers, exhaust etc. and am having it all installed next week by a tuner in Waterbury CT.

I’m getting no trade for the engine coming out of the car and really don’t want to bring it home, so figured it has to be worth something to someone more mechanically minded than me. Engine will be complete with whatever wasn’t needed to complete the new engine (https://www.chevrolet.com/performanc...e&gclsrc=3p.ds)

I can’t make any other guarantees about the condition of the engine. Until it leaks oil at high revs it runs fine; pulls hard, no vibrations, not oil burning.

$1,000 or best offer. Buyer must collect from Waterbury CT in next 10 days. If we agree a deal and then when we pull the engine we find out it’s not as advertised (cracked block for example) there is no expectation of going through with the deal.

Can't edit title: it's an 2018, not 2017 car.

Your putting an LS3 in an Lt1 SS. Have you checked into what its going to take to convert to an LS motor. Nothing is the same and the LS3 is for a Gen5 Camaro not a Gen6 like yours. Is the dealer installing this LS3? If so they shouldn't be in business.

I think he is talking about the LT376/535 hp engine.

The LT376/535 builds on the technologies and capability of the LT1 6.2L by extending them with CNC-ported heads and our high-lift LT1 Hot Cam.

I hope so because the link he attached has nothing to do with an lt1 and that's the NMCA gm performance engine that class uses. I haven't seen an Lt1 crate engine that's 535 hp, maybe I missed it. All I've seen is the 460 hp and lt4

That works, I didn't find that when I looked on the website. I hope that's what he ordered and just gave us the wrong link originally. Thx for the update and they should put that in the SS to start with and not the 460 hp

They will never put that crate engine in the Camaro it’s designed for competition use only.

PARTS INTENDED FOR COMPETITION USE ONLY

Chevrolet Performance offers parts that are intended exclusively for use in competition vehicles that will only be driven on a track or off-road course. By “competition vehicles,” GM means vehicles (i) used exclusively for competitions organized and sanctioned by a local or private body and (ii) not designed for use on public streets or highways. Consumers are strongly advised not to install parts accompanied by this warning on vehicles that will be driven on public roads, as they are not designed for that purpose. The product descriptions for such parts are accompanied by the “Checkered Flag” warning icon.

WARNING: NOT EMISSIONS LEGAL FOR STREET USE

I know what it means, I'm just saying that's what they should do. We sell blowers for the LS crate engines all the time to customers and shops. I just wasn't aware of the LT version of that connect and cruise but its awesome that GM is offering because that allows Magnuson to step into that program also. Very cool

seems like a great deal. When you pull it, id do a compression check just as another selling point. if all the cyl are good, it'll help the sale. with the manifolds off and a lot of the other crap outta the way, itd be easy to pull plugs and run the gauge on each cly.

sounds like oil leak might be from the front crank seal, have to upgrade that to a LS3 one when boosting, its A LOT thicker.. either way, wish you were closer to me and i'd take it off your hands.

I must have posted the wrong link. It is going to be an LT376/535 with all the trimmings. Z28 prototype? ;-)

I have to Pm's saying they will take the engine. I will respond and the order in which they were received will get first dibs.
