How Sensitive Is The E-Diff?
I've read a good bit about how sensitive the electronic differential is on the SS 1LE. I would NEVER try to use a different profile in the event of a flat but I can't imagine the pump and fix-a-flat in the trunk work well. So, if I had a flat could I replace one side on the back with the exact same type tire, in the factory size but new? For example, my summer tires are the factory size 305/30/20 PS4S. Would I need to buy 2 if I needed to replace only one so that they would be the exact same size and not freak out the computer? OR, would a few millimeters be OK? Just curious.

curious myself, considering i just had to replace one of my rear tires that picked up a screw. Car only had 1800 miles on it, 90% highway/light driving. I figured i was fine due to the mileage and nature of use the tires had experienced. I didnt actually measure the tread depth, but to the naked eye the new and old tire were basically indiscernible. I also monitored the e diff display for the first couple drives to see if it was activating at a higher rate than what i remembered to be normal, i did not notice anything out of the ordinary there...

The eDiff won't care about the difference in wear or tread. But it WILL care if you mix/match sizes.

Well the stock Goodyear's have so little tread new Vs bald I would seriously doubt it would matter.

Most track and high performance summer tires have so little tread depth I'm sure it would never exceed the cooked in tire diameter allowance/programming. I have 4S's and at $550 a rear tire I'd test it out.

Warrior102 - Exactly! I agree. Through an odd sequence of events, I ended up with a duplicate set of 1LE wheels for the summer and they had 4s' on them as well. I thought that if I had a flat, I would prefer to only purchase 1 tire rather than sell a kidney. I've been running the EDIF screen so that I know what "normal" looks like, just in case.
