By 4 tenths over the A10 ZLE! Of course, not same day, so hard to tell how truly close or apart they are. The article did say they think there were an additional few SECONDS left on the table. That was referring to if Billy Johnson had lapped it (duh, he's going to be faster than C&D staff).

Interesting how each manufacturer has gotten there:
ZLE: Less power, less compliant ride, torque converter automatic, cheaper price
GT500 CFTP: More power, more comfortable ride, DCT, more money.

Interestingly, the Huracan Evo tied the ZLE at 2:45.0.

I wish they had also lapped a base GT500 w/ the handling pack to see how it compares to a ZL1 A10, which ran 2:50 a few years ago at LL. Similar to the GT500 CFTP, they think they left a few seconds on the track in the ZL1 as well (because in the morning they hit a curb and bent a rim, and wasn't able to get it back on the track until later when it warmed up):
"In more favorable conditions, we’re confident that the Camaro ZL1 had a 2:48 in it, maybe a 2:47. Even though we are disappointed by our 2:50.1, the regular ZL1 is still 0.8 second quicker than the 2015 Z/28."

I think the actual gap between the ZLE and ZL1 might be closer.

$20K price difference against the ZLE.

$10K price difference against the Z06.

You'll never see an overpriced Camaro or Corvette up against a cheaper Mustang.

I believe that's the Z06 with Z07 package that cost around $105K.

Another interesting tidbit: I thought to myself, that most likely, the 4 tenths victory by the GT500 CFTP was likely mostly made up on the back straight before the finish line due to it accelerating much harder at high speeds. The ZLE was actually about a tenth of a second ahead of the GT500 on the second to last turn (edited for clarity: it's the final turn that requires braking). See pics showing the times on the exact same part of the track.

Edit: Also, look at the speed difference, the ZLE driver appears to have likely slowed down too much for that turn, hurting its time.

The 500 is way faster in a straight line, so given they are a "driver's race", the ZLE must be carrying more speed through the turns. You know?

+$18,000, +110HP, +CFTP goodies and the best it could do was 0.4 seconds against a 2 year old A10 ZL1/1LE.

Goes to show how superior the Alpha chassis is.

If this doesn't prove what a tremendous car and value the ZL1/1LE is.....I don't know what else would.

Alpha is magic.

VERY proud of my car, but like to see progress with the other choices.

Not to mention the weight difference. If your goal with the GT500 is a track car, its tires and gas consumption will make it a not very pleasant experience. Just look at Speed Phenom's channel for proof of that.

If street use is your goal and you just want bragging rights, either car is great for that. Mustang fans will choose Mustang, Camaro fans will choose Camaro.

The SS 1LE is plenty for me on the street, and even that IMO is too heavy and top heavy when you are really throwing it around the canyons or back roads.

I am over the heavy "pound the road into submission" type of cars. I am moving to mid-engine, light weight, low center of gravity, AKA PDK GT4.

The ZL1 has the gas tank problem too. Tires are doing well though.

GT4RS looks like it's going to be a little monster

I might not move to a C8Z if they did that.
