Half shaft (axle) recommendations for 700WHP?
Any recommendations for a 2016 A8 Camaro SS? I see the ZL1 Heavy-Duty Driveline kit, but I like to shop around.

G-Force has heavy duty axles available. DSS also does. Have not heard of any problems with G-Force yet on a Gen6. The only DSS Gen6 problem I've heard of thus far was a broken carbon fiber driveshaft on a car that had ~690rwhp.

TGMPG has the ZL1 axles for cheaper. I'll be in the same boat as you when I get my car back this week, but I think I'm going to ride out for a while. If it breaks I'm going for the ZL1 unit.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I think I remember reading about toohighpsi (Mike) breaking a carbon fiber drive shaft at the track. I'm not putting down the kind of power that LesBaer and toohighpsi are at the moment, and I have no plans to track the car, but I want to be prepared when some souped up mustang pulls up on me. At most, I could be 590-600whp after some upcoming LT4 fuel upgrades and a custom tune...but knowing how addictive this mod business is, I'll be back for more.

Gforce is the only stuff I'd run. Chris is a great guy and his products speak for themselves. (Ford Motor Sports halfshafts are made by Gforce) .
I'll be running his Drive Shafts, Halfshafts and a custom 9" center section in the new build. |

Do you have a link to the parts or do I need to give them a call?

I think if you google The Driveshaftshop, they distribute the g-force parts. Whatever tires you use are going to factor into it too. I hear you though...was thinking the same thing but I want to see how it is before I change anything. I have a feeling though that the stock GM axle and driveshaft are a lot stronger than people give it credit for. It'll be interesting to see how it holds up for me

I am running the Gforce axles and 1 piece DS as well. I have never had any issues on my past cars and their products either. AMAZING customer service as well. Jesse and Casey are great to deal with.

You're drag racing with that car too, right? Do you have any pictures of it you could share?

This is not true, DSS has been in business for over 30 years and makes there own parts in a 50,000sq machine shop in Salisbury NC. They supplied axles for every record breaking GM car ever made. The 2016 Camaro axles are stronger then the Gen 5's but not real high end. our guess is it will support 600-700hp depending on driver and track prep. |
