Wheel Hop Carnage
Drag racing the other day, a brand new Hellcat hit the gas resulting in wicked, nasty wheel hop. He let off and made it through that run. Next time, he hit the gas, more violent hop, then BAM! So long new $1500 carbon fiber driveshaft.

Wow, that is something when you consider how much abuse these carbon fiber drive shafts are supposed to take! I would think DSS would like to review that one!

Shouldn't the inside of the driveshaft have the same amount of resin on the outside? It looks completely dry on the carbon fiber strands which in that case there is no strength at all.

once the tube breaks the resin opens up and dissipates, this is what one of the benefits of a carbon shaft is. when this happens its soft and does not hurt the car. |
