You can run a torque converter automatic in manual mode, too. The underlying mechanical systems of a DCT don't change the operation of that transmission in any way for the driver - you accelerate & increase engine speed until you want to shift, then you push a button and the transmission goes to the next gear for you.

Obviously, in either case this is a very different user experience from an actual manual transmission.

Have you driven one? I have one in a Porsche - PDK. It's an automatic in function. Yes you can run it in manual mode and it will stay in the gear you tell it to and there is no TC - but it's still an automatic in terms of driving experience.

I love my automatic and it's only a 3 spd.
It might be a great time for a start up company producing manual transmission conversions for the new C8. Good Luck!

GM’s quoting 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds.

That’s running a modified LT1 known as the LT2, with 495 horse power.

That’s partially due to the dual clutch transmission shifting so quickly.

Z06 and ZR1 are surely going to cause brain damage.

I would definitely wait and let some people guinea pig it because we don’t know how reliable the Tremec dual-clutch transmission is going to be.

Also, remember they delayed C8 6 months for severe electrical problems.

One year of production will enlighten everyone.

I will not be an early adopter, but definitely concidering to upgrade to the C8 in a few years
That performance level will take about 120k or more to duplicate. And will frankly give all the prancing horses a scare if not downright trounce them.

But who's kidding who. A Ferrari is a Ferrari.... just driving one gets you all kinds of PU$$y.....

No proof whatsoever that C8 was delayed 6 months for electrical problems. Someone on a forum stating it and some media outlets running with it doesn't make it true.

A stock Z51 with a 120K power train warranty sounds nice.

The C8 Vette obviously has even worse rear quarter/rear visibility than the 6th gen Camaro, but I bet no one ever complains about it.

So does a C6 but I’ve never heard that mentioned either.

I started adding up all the goodies I would want and it was way north of the ZLE price. Can't wait to see how it really performs. Sure it's mid engine and probably quite a bit lighter, but disappointed about no FI option. I'm sure it will come but it will be pricey. Waiting on that winning lottery ticket...
