Lifter Tray replacement. When and why?
I have always replaced the trays when building engines. 100k miles or 1500 miles. They seem to always look to be in perfect shape but for $40 bucks. I always bought new.
Besides cracking or breaking why do we always replace them? Esp if we already have the ls3 style and removed DOD. Do you guys ever reuse them?

There is no need to if they are in good shape and the LS2/3 style.

I agree with King but since you have it apart and doing new lifters plus they are cheap so just go ahead and replace them.

Right guys, this is what I woke up to thinking this morning. Why did I spend 40 bucks on new trays when mine have 1500 miles on them and look to be in perfect shape. LOL Its the little things in life.

Well my build has 4,473 miles and for $40 bucks I will get them for piece of mind with all new bolts as well. Actually already have them.
