Same as how for the 2019 you have to pay for the app to remote lock etc but my 2018 Cruze has it free forever..

Gotta love the consistency here, the app brazenly says "Upgrade Now" for wifey's 2016 Traverse. Cretins.

You can probably contact Gen5DIY for a harness but can get a 2016-2018 overhead console with the home link and replace your current one. You’ll lose the onstar buttons but that’s personal preference.

I’ve just actually bought some MyQ system that uses your current garage door and makes it ‘smart’ so it interfaces with Apple HomeKit and with that it’ll show up on ur CarPlay screen when you get home and you can press it or set up an automation to open when you’re near. I’m sure it’s compatible with Android but I don’t know the insides of that

Their excuse was that there was not enough "room" in the overhead console after they added the new display-mirror.

But as we can clearly see from the corvette visor (which has existed for about a decade or longer) this story from gm* is BS.

The Camaro unit used up through '18 is a one-piece model, whereas the corvette has the buttons in the visor but the electronics in a separate module. This two-piece unit could have easily been installed into the Camaro.

*new logo, ya know
I have read it's just to bring down the cost of the Camaro, which is the same reason why removed wireless charging for phones for all Camaros except ZL1.

The wireless charging thing seems just about useless to me... Can any modern sized phone actually fit on the charging pad? Lol.

My phone(OnePlus 7 Pro) doesn't even support it, so yeah, I don't care.

And no, it doesn't fit entirely into the tray. I know my phone is quite massive, but I think only phones like iPhone SE 2 can have a chance to fit in there.

Sent from toaster or something

How did you accomplish this witchcraft? Is that a center unit from a 17/18?

Edit—Saw that it is a 16-18 unit. Is it plug and play??

Yes, 2018 was the last year for homelink in the ZLE...

I for one love the wireless charging pad, because I can't stand cables and am wary of repeatedly plugging/removing a cable into/from that brittle micro USB connector that breaks so easily (already broke on one of my headsets after about a year).

GM released an updated wireless charging module for $80 that supports modern phones and is very easy to install. I also trimmed the short edges of the rubber pad, which gives almost an inch of extra "legroom" for a phone.

Can't wait for my AAWireless device to finally arrive, and then hopefully I'll also be able to use Android Auto wirelessly. (Whoa, this soundes like cheap chatbot spam, but it isn't, heh )

I am not looking to replace my phone soon, I bought it only a bit over a year ago and it still runs very well. The wired charging is pretty nice and quick. USB C port also shouldn't wear out that quickly.

To each of their own, though. I can see the appeal of it as I do leave my phone in that tray when I drive.

I can't find any photos of the plug for the 2019+ overhead console but if they are the same plugs as the 16-18 then it'll be as easy as buying a 16-18 unit with homelink and this harness from Gen5DIY

At that point it's just supplying power, now GM could have changed the connector for whatever reason but can't tell unless someone can check or one shows up with photos on eBay
