Pulled the trigger, sold the SS 1LE

After much going back and forth on the direction I wanted to take the car and weighing some other options I made the decision to sell my Procharged 17 SS 1LE last week. I got lucky that a good friend was really interested in the car and really wanted it, so I will at least still see it around and be able to help out or give some input into the car when he asks.

It was a hard decision to make, 11-2016 my Dad told me he had lower esophageal cancer and would be looking at surgery. I made the decision in 2-2017 to buy the 17 SS 1LE as something for my Dad and I to look towards using for some events and Hotrod Power Tours. My Dad worked for GM and retired from GM so I used my discount to buy the car. He had surgery on 3-1-17 and due to surgical complications passed away 6-4-17.

He only got the see the car once before his passing and never even got to ride in it. It made my decision hard to sell it for that reason, but knowing the new owner would take care of the car like I did helped me make the decision.

The replacement is on its way to me, hoping I will get it by the end of next week. Then to take some time to go thru the new car and get it sorted out, cleaned up and a base dyno run done.

I ended up find a nice 19 Corvette Z06 with all of the main options I wanted, the only compromise I made was going for an A8 instead of the M7 which is fine for me at this point in my life. The goal is to have a nice road trip car so that the wife and I can take it on some trips.

Been fun, keep posting up those 6th gen rides, I plan on hanging around and lurking in the shadows while I start the progression of mods on the new car.

Todd

Sorry to hear about your dad. May he rest in peace. It sucks he never had the chance to ride in the car some more.

Although the Z06 is a sweet upgrade.

Yeah it really does, I had hoped him seeing the car would give him some drive to recover, the damage from the surgery was just too much for him to overcome. That and due to him being so weak just allowed the cancer to start all over and ravage his mind and body.

The car was really the single best vehicle I have ever owned, all I hear is praise from my friend who bought it. He came from a modded 5th gen to my Procharged 6th gen.

My SS 1LE really set the bar high for the shoes the Z06 is filling. The Z06 has always been a dream car for me to own, then after I pulled the trigger and signed the deal I found out I could have maybe swung a deal on a 19 ZR1 instead.

Oh well, I am happy either way. A 2 year newer car, more tech and a better engine platform to upgrade on as well. Hoping it baselines in the 560-580 RWHP range, do a couple of mods and get it over the 600rwhp range and then drive it for a year before I go after headers, E85, porting the blower and a upper pulley and aim for 700rwhp.

That's rough about your father, I'm sorry, Todd. Knowing that your car is going to a responsible owner who actually appreciates the vehicle, helps dramatically. I had a really hard time letting go of my SS 1LE, too. But the new owner and I keep in contact fairly frequently and he's in love with the car. So it helps bring me some comfort.

We've talked various times and I'm always willing to help you out with this platform. It's a different world on the Corvette side of the fence but, much if what we've learned from the Camaro world translates directly over to that side. Just be prepared for a lot of strong opinions, fierce loyalty and high prices for modifications.

Good luck either way and I'm here if you need me (or on the other platforms).

Thanks man, I appreciate it. It is like beig a kid in a candy store right now. I havent been this excited for a new vehicle in some time.

As much as I would have loved to picked up a ZR1, I was afraid with it being so exclusive that I would have babied it and not driven it much.

It's sad to lose someone you love so much and especially someone with whom you obviously have so much in common. I feel for you.

I had a dream two nights ago that I was driving like a crazy person on the clouds in heaven...lol. I'm sure I'm going to get there, but I doubt there will be any Z06s to tempt me!
