Not rare all... large percentage of early buyers opted for the SS/RS, be it a 1SS or a 2SS..

I have a 2SS/RS...

Here you go... Obviously the Vert doesn’t have color matched ditch moldings, but...

Not too rare. Most people opted for the RS package with their SS or even the base V6 because they liked the halo headlights. Finding a 1SS non RS is kind of rare.

As everyone else mentioned not rare. Easiest way to tell (if the badging hasn’t been changed) is red SS badges on the front and rear.

Hold on to it for 40 years and you might have something. When I was in high school (late 70s), we called 1st gens "a-holes" because like a-holes, everyone had one. They were everywhere and very nice examples could be had for $1000 or less all day long. I don't need to tell you what the prices on them are like here, 40 years later.

not worried about the collector stuff...i bought this car as a driver to keep the miles off my duramax...i am gonna enjoy it for what it is intended to be..a fun car to drive...just trying to understand this whole SS RS stuff..

also food for thought on the "a-holes" they were common then but what do you want to be what helped them get more valuable is when the did the cash for clunkers...who knows how many got eaten up in that program making them a lot more rare

Somewhere here in the archives is an incredibly detailed listing of what was sold. Models, colors, LT, 1SS, 2SS, verts, etc., etc. it might be dated by now though.

All SSs came with logos off to the side. Red=RS white=non-RS. Anything in center is aftermarket
