They probably have that info in their DMS already. You can buy public info from some companies and some states sell your DMV info.

Basically this ↑↑↑

Call it a layer of anonymity (or at least plausible deniability) between what you post and who you really are. You don't owe anybody an easy link between the two, especially people not involved in the discussion at hand.

That exactly it. It keeps people from figuring out the true identity of the person posting.

People with vanity plates, of course, are exempt. :P

Or, should I be worried that some stranger may pay me a visit at home?

I am just really curious. Please enlighten me!

No point hiding, by being on this website, for those knowledgeable, they can already figure out where you live

Just saying.

We live in a connected world, there is no such thing as privacy anymore.

The NYS DMV sells the info for profit, I wondered how come every insurance company in the world was sending me quotes and knew the make model and year of all of them, then it was on the news.

When I do Track Days, I remove my Tag - I know my Insurance Co will not cover me for a Track Incident, but I don't want them cancelling me because I participated! By not having the Tag on, In-car Videos from other Drivers cannot 100% ID my car
