not against the c8 platform once it matures. GM just doesn't have the experience or rear/mid engine and there will be a lot of quirks to figure out. eventually, it should be quite a bit better than the c7 platform, but right now it's not as shown by laptimes. let someone else pay the 20k markup to be beta tester. i've been burnt by early adopter way too many times. the 2022 vette will be much better than the 2020, and you won't have to pay huge markup either. if you want to hae the newests car on the block; there is value to that and it is cool to be the first to get it. However, it's clear for any of us who've been following the history of these performance cars that early gens have lots of problems.

also, the design language, front and rear need a little work. get some of the angles / ridges out of the hood when the rest oft he car shape is organicly rounder.

keep in mind reviews are very biased towards the positive. they have tremondous incentive, even the youtubers. if they really critically review a car, they don't get invites to press events.

straight piipes reporting an engine tick.

Wait at least another year, probably 2-3, before you can actually order a new C8 and get what you want, for a reasonable price, that will be built correctly to your specs and delivered within a couple months, and be reliable.

Right now it's way too much of a risk and headache with everything going on. Even if covid didn't happen, GM started with a brand new complete architecture for this car from scratch. That in and of itself poses 1st and 2nd year risks.

The only reason to buy one now is if you intend on never driving it, only polishing it.
exactly. although, there is a cool factor for being the first to have it and someone people have different life situations where waiting isn't worth it. just go in to with open eyes.

OP, unless your '17 SS is paid off, I'd pass, but that is just me. Trading in cars while still having a note is a fool's game. I always pay my cars off in 2 years or less, so when the time comes for a trade, I owe nothing.

To each their own. Best of luck.
