Exclamation 2017 Camaro SS Service Stabilitrak/ Power Steering

Hi,

I know these messages have been covered before and I have read through numerous posts. However, I am not seeing one that describes the issue I am having. Tuesday I purchased a 2017 Camaro 2SS (auto trans). It has 25k miles on it. Drove it 4 hours back and did not display these messages.

I am randomly getting "service stabilitrak." This is is occurring during different driving behaviors such as hard acceleration, hitting bumps in the road, putting the car in drive, idling down the drive way. The message pops up and then disappears within a second. It pops up several times while driving. I have only saw the "service power steering" once so far and that was today.

I took took it to a Chevy dealer yesterday and during their inspection they said the battery needed replaced due to low cca (in the 300s I believe). I went to disconnect the battery today and the negative was not tightened down at all. After tightening it down and testing the battery it is testing good (over 700 ccas).

I do not believe the battery is at fault. Front tires are 245/40ZR20 and rears are 275/35ZR20. Which according to the sticker on the door sill are factory specs for the tires. The tires do not appear to be a factory brand. I live in Indiana and its been chilly the last few days (someone posted that could be an issue). I have read where people have said spark plugs or check your connections. I am not a mechanic I do not know where to start looking. Nothing appears to be apparent. Also the manufacture warranty was up at the beginning of the month.

Obviously seeing these messages pop up constantly is annoying. I am concerned due to the warnings disappearing nearly as quickly as they reappeared.

According to scan tool (scanned and cleared codes before discovering the battery was not tightened down) the vehicle had the following codes:

P175F

Brakes
U0126
U0151
U0077
C0800
U0126

I apologize for the long post. I would appreciate any feedback. Hoping this does not break the bank to fix. Hope you have a great weekend and avoid the Corona.

I would say if you bought the car that recent, you should call that dealer and explain the issues and allow them to look, diagnose and fix these issues. Most used cars come with a 12,000 ml warranty or 3 months. I know it"'s not your tires or spark plugs, etc. Has it done it since you tightened your battery ground?Sounds like a bad sensor or something along that line.

I don't think it'll be extremely expensive to fix. You will have a diagnose fee with some labor and parts. I do believe maybe a wheel speed sensor gone haywire or not working would cause your issue on stabiltrak. Take to a dealer, fix it and call your used car lot and ask them to split the cost with you. The steering on these cars is drive by wire. So I think a steering sensor or it's out of calibration.

Took vehicle to Chevy dealer to be diagnosed today. They said they took it for a test drive, Stabiltrak lights were going off, took it back pushed harnesses to make sure they were seated, cleared the codes, drove it and the lights never came back on. Said a harness must have been loose although they could not confirm that because they did not know for sure which one it was. I drove it 45 minutes home, no issues.

Well I had to pay $120 diagnostic fee but it was worth it to me because I had no idea where to start troubleshooting beyond what I did. Thanks for the replies

Not sure they said could have been loose harness because they pushed up on multiple but were not sure if one was truly loose. Problem did come back but not as frequent as before. Will update

Update: I believe the engine harness needs replaced. Dealer contacted Chevy Support and were told to reprogram steering sensors. Next trip in they were given a list of harnesses and circuits to test. While they were not certain they believe the culprit to be the engine harness. Where it plugs in at by the passenger head light had been cut off, soldered, and heat shrink. One wire of the set was soldered and electrical taped. Part of that wire was exposed. Dealership quoted me $2200 to replace the harness (bumper to bumper expired). Found the part for $300 probably take to my mechanic to get a quote for labor.
