Rear park assist

I have noticed in my search for a zl1 that some cars are arriving with the rear park assist deleted and a $50 credit given. I am assuming this is due to some kind of chip shortage.

Well....I found this

https://gmauthority.com/blog/2022/01...-availability/

I was getting a ZL1 because I wanted more power and the bells and whistles. Hope it is resolved soon.

But $50 credit...seriously? You charge $500 for the carbon fiber dash and its $250 if you buy it separately.

Yes, I read that on my sticker, you need to go back to the dealership and have it installed at a later date when it comes in. Who knows when that will be though.

There have been a number of manufactures (Ford, GM and Dodge/RAM) that have been doing this.

IMO, a $50 is a bunch of bull. I bet that is what GM gets charged for parts but then charges the consumer $200 or more......It should be what GM charges the consumer for this feature, not what they get charged.

Does anyone know where the module is that will have to be accessed to retrofit? For example I would not want the dealer pulling the bumper or taking apart the dash. Sorry just never had confidence in the work. If it was in the trunk and some minor felt removal I would be ok with that.

Tahoe's were coming with no remote start and a $50 credit. LOL

Yeah, I would be in the same boat as you with regards to trusting any dealer work. That said, this is relatively new so unless someone else here has worked on that specific feature, I'm not sure we will know the amount of work involved. It blows!

Is there anyone on this board that is close with Chevy to find out more about what’s involved in the future retrofit. Right now I am hesitant to order one or buy off the lot with this deletion.

Is that a feature that you really, really need? The backup camera is more reliable than the beeps.

This isn't the only option being deleted now, heated and ventilated seats is now off the table along with some other options.

I find it a useful feature, I've had it beep while backing out of my driveway even before I saw the car coming.

Wow. I wonder how much of this is REALLY due to the chip shortage.

That's not the rear parking assist. That's the cross traffic alert. Which I don't know if those 2 systems are tied into each other.

I could do without the ventilated seats but not the heated!

It is strange how the Camaro is getting shifted but I guess it's due to it being killed off.... again. So all of it's features go to the "cash cows".
