Mobil 1 ESP 0W-40 - 10 Quarts
PF64 Filter - 1

If you want to change your oil cap to reflect the new oil, that part # is 12686472.

+1 Exactly. I added super black hole magnets to the filter and upgraded the oil plug magnet because why not...

I will say the drain plug magnet would hold my framing hammer in the air. I figure if any shavings get near the plug they are sure to get collected. It’s cheap insurance.

Question,

I have the 5 30 in the car now and was going to do a track day then switch to the 0 40 permanently.

I know the high performance supplement says 0 40 for the track. Is there any harm using the 5 30?

Just curious thanks,
Pat

How serious do you plan on driving and for how long? A bunch of 25+ minute 8/10th sessions? Or just 2-3 shorter 10 minute or so sessions? Track rats can give you the reasons why but the oil will just stop working as well after a certain point and can negatively effect many parts in the engine.

I don't plan on pushing hard as itll be my first track day with this car but I suppose it should be changed as GM recommends it and as it says so in the performance supplement.

Id imagine id go out 3 or 4 times for 10-15mins and drive how I feel comfortable. I'm not a get all I can get guy on the track.

(My dealer doesn't have the bulletin that says the oil is to be 0 40 yet btw)

^^^ That is the European spec because it is sold in liter quantities (note the price is in euros). I'm sure there is not much difference and it is Dexos2 approved. GM was actually using the European formula for a while in dealerships until Mobil could ramp up production in quart quantities. I see you are in Mexico so I guess its up to you on where to buy it from.

Check out thelubricantstore.com. I have ordered it from them.

I'm not an oil expert but I believe there are some fundamental differences in the Euro spec vs the US ESP stuff.

See if you can get the real stuff. I'm not sure what limitations you have or where you're ordering from but the GM part number for 1 quart of ESP is: 19370233

Any Chevrolet Dealer will be able to easily procure it.

I got mine here.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/263893631797

However, unless the price comes down comparable to the 5W-30, I probably won't use it again. I don't plan to track the car. Just went with it this time because I drank the camaro6 koolaid.

I am using the EU spec because:

- the US can´t be found here,

- after talking with Mobil DE and UK, the differences are minimal and can be used both in our cars (and the EU is Dexos2 too).
