Disconnect Rear Side Speakers
I am taking apart my interior and want to be so careful with the speaker clip. I already broke my underseat airbag clip, so i'd like to not create more work that necessary.
The picture below shows the passenger rear side speaker. There is a black clip which connects the wire to the interior panel mounted speaker. It has a red piece which slides back and fourth. It looks as though you simply slide the red piece away from the speaker and pull the black clip apart. However, using a fair amount of force i've had no luck. Am I missing something? |

I am not positive because I have not done it myself but that red piece should be preventing the release button to be pressed when the red clip is pushed in so even though you have pulled the red clip out, you should still have to reach under the plug (the side facing away from the camera) and press and hold the release button while pulling the plug.

Rhobz has this right. You still have to depress a release "button" after you slide the red tab back.

it sticks on there pretty good - I used a large flat screwdriver to help separate the connectors once the red tab is in the open position.
