I saw this and thought regardless of how it turns out, finally a sub 4000lbs Hellcat but most importantly a 797 hp redeye engine mated to an m6 trans!

The article says there will be two engine configurations. The 485 hp 392 Hemi V8 and much more powerful 797 hp Hellcat Redeye supercharged V8.

I would bet the 392 is the one that will be under 4,000 lbs

No question, and that will be a feat in itself...

I don't think you will see it. They only offer the 8 speed on Redeye engines. I don't think the Viper Tremec can handle the torque/power.

That's probably going to be the case, but we can still hope since gm had the balls to put a manual trans on the lower output but still similarly powered c7 zr1.

Perhaps a beefed up version of the tr6060 and some ecu torque limitation in the first few gears like the zr1 to keep it running reliably.

Probably not gunna happen, but like jvandy50 said, let a boy dream lol

It's the weight that the ZR1 has to it's advantage and the M7. While close in power, the supercharged ACR will NOT come in under 4000lbs. Again, happy to be proven wrong, but it will take some astronomical weight savings at equal astronomical cost to achieve near 4000lbs with that chassis while also passing production car requirements. I would say that the Demon with only the driver's seat, the skinny wheel/tire setup up front - is going to be closest to what any 797hp ACR will weigh.

I definately considered that while at similar power levels, the hellcat redeye is atleast a solid 700 pounds heavier beating on that trans than a zr1.

There was some talk about that in another thread here and the consensus seemed to be it was held bc the 2020 MY was going to be so short due to strike and covid

I would say in 5 to 10 years:
Dodge will not have a RWD car.
Ford will replace the Mustang with a Mach E ( which may come in a "coupe")
GM will have a 4 dr "Camaro" and the C8 will be made for a decade or more and be GM's only 2dr, other than some low volume Caddi / Camaro "coupe", which mayor may not be mid-engine. I always felt the Vette was just a 2 seat Camaro anyway.
Just my wild broad brush guess.

I'm thinking the camaro becomes the front engine performance car and picks up where the C7 leaves off. They go ahead and get rid of the useless back seat in the gen 7 maro.
