Drone is actual cabin pressure. Like a subwoofer. It's unbearable if there is enough of it. Some cars suffer from it a lot more than others. C6 corvette autos were EXTREMELY sensitive to it. I agree that a lot of people confuse being able to "hear" the exhaust with "drone". But again, the amount of drone one can tolerate is subjective.

Probably one of the best analogies that I've heard to describe it.

It is essentially the same as cabin gain with car audio. Different cars have different resonance frequencies. Exhaust can do the exact same thing. When the exhaust tone hits the cabin resonance frequency... boom. Drone.

Sorry to derail. Just trying to expand horizons while we are on the topic

AGREED.

If you are buying an exhaust system, you WANT to hear it in the cabin more than stock, otherwise what is the point, why buy something for sound that only those outside can hear. You just don't want that Sub woofer frequency drone part.

Absolutely no need to apologize. Glad to know you guys know the difference as the term is certainly thrown around entirely too much these days.

Edit (just for the record): you're very correct in stating drone is a subjective matter. Luckily we do not rely on our human makeup to determine whether there's drone with X and Z design on each platform we develop for, rather we take in-depth sound recordings which undergo painstaking analysis (radical science) to determine which frequencies we need to remove with 180 Technology®. Fun stuff.

Outstanding analogy.

Following this one closely. Wow, thanks for the soundbite on second teaser.

Josh, I'm assuming that as AWE gets closer to release, that emitted dB levels will be posted?

Am I correct in assuming that your performance link pipes will delete the secondary cats? I believe that PLPs with 180 tech (touring) will suit my needs perfectly, and preserve my relationships with the neighbors. Do PLPs connect to mid pipes via flange or slip connection?

Sorry for so many questions. Thanks in advance.

WM, I will not be providing dB readings as they're a bit misleading in the grand scheme of things. For example, what is read at one track's recording station will be different at the next, as well as across different cars, since dB readings are highly influenced by surroundings.

You are correct about the PLPs. They bridge the gap between the primary catalysts and the CBE. The PLPs certainly give an extra dose in the volume department. If it were me, I would tango with the Touring Edition first and then add the PLPs. The decision on approach is yours to make, of course

Any chance the design maintains proper airflow under the car? Most aftermarket exhausts turn the rear fascia into a parachute.

Good observation.Always a concern.

Not sure what we can do there other than some form of aftermarket diffuser.
