DIY: Nitrous Express Supercharger Lid

Hi all. I spend a considerable amount of time researching this lid prior to ordering and installation. There was not 1 concise thread or place to find out how to install this lid or the differences in the various revisions they have had.

I want to share with you my research and the a quick how to for anyone thinking of installing this lid.

First, lets start with the basics and the differences in the lids:

Option 1:
https://www.nitrousexpress.com/nx939...tml#OptionTabs

I believe this is the first version of the lid with the valley in the center of the lid. It has 8 ports(4 on each side) so you can add water/meth. If you wanted to run nitrous with this lid after the fact, you would have to have it machined and have the spray plumbed in.

Option 2:
https://www.nitrousexpress.com/nx939...ous-ports.html

I believe this is version 2 of the lid. This lid has both the 8 ports on the sides, plus 2 more integrated nitrous ports in the back corners. If you look closely, this lid has perforations on the underside that spray directly into the supercharger roots.

Option 3,4,5:
Ordering the complete water/meth kit with the lid, or the nitrous kit with the lid, or the water/meth and nitrous kit with the lid.

https://www.nitrousexpress.com/20939...lb-bottle.html

https://www.nitrousexpress.com/20939...arger-lid.html

I originally ordered the non-nitrous lid on Ebay not knowing the difference, but I was shipped the nitrous-water/meth lid by accident. I noticed I had the 2 extra ports in the rear and no plugs for them. I called NX and they shipped the 2 plugs free of charge and no questions asked. Really nice people over there.
For me, the windows down sound is the same, but you can feel improved throttle response and a little extra power. With the windows up, the supercharger whine is comparable to a hellcat. It sounds amazing under partial load and even better under WOT.

Now that we have discussed the options, onto the lid installation. Remember to do this with a cool engine or risk getting burned. There is no need to disconnect the battery here.

Tools needed: 10mm socket, 1/4 or 3/8 ratchet wrench with various extensions, Allen tools to drive in the port plugs, torque wrench.

Step 1:
Remove 2 cable loom holders from the front, and 1 from the rear. the rear one is a little tight of a fit, and I scraped some skin off my finger prying it out, so be careful.

Step 2:
take your 10mm socket and start removing the bolts carefully. either leave the bolts in the lid or remember where they belong. Some are different.

Step 3:
After you have removed all 20 bolts, carefully lift the lid off of the supercharger. Be careful to not break anything and there will be some lines in the way as you lift. You can easily maneuver around them.

Step 4:
Install the plugs on all the ports if you do not plan on running any nitrous or water/meth. Use the provided plugs and lock tite. Install a new gasket set on the new lid.

Step 5:
Place the lid over the supercharger cover. Place all the bolts with the black guides from the OEM lid in their respective locations. You will need to use the bolt or a punch to push the guides through.

Step 6:
Hand tighten the bolts following the pattern provided. Once you have them all hand tightened, torque to spec following the guide pattern.

Step 7:
reinstall cable loom holders.

Step 8: turn on the car and listen for any vacuum leaks. If none, take it out for a spin and enjoy the whine.

No tune needed for just a lid.

Did it today...fits great. Definitely more supercharger whine. Performance... can't tell. Weight...nearly identical to stock. The OP needed a stock lid underside pic for a comparison. 3/16" Allen wrench required for the 8 plugs.
