No excuse for not at least doing this if you have a $50k car.
From what I have seen the OBD port lock doesn't really lock onto the OBD Port, even after being screwed in, it can just be pulled right off.

What I personally would like is to use an alarm system with a starter kill and maybe an auxiliary circuit that activates if the alarm is triggered. With the auxilary circuit, maybe us it to power up a device that reverses the polarity of the OBD port so anyone who tries to use it instantly fries their machine.

When my 2 camaros come out of winter storage I will putting in a security system and a push start engine starter kill relay. Camaro theft is going to hit the rest of the country hard also sooner then later.

so these OBDII port locks have semi-unique keys sort of like wheel locks do?

In general yes. But I would not count on it stopping a thief.

It's just another layer to add to your security.

2 is 1, 1 is 0...

There are different OBD locks. I would recommend one made of metal rather than plastic.

The alarm system would be fine, but if you're saying you can't afford one or you can't get one yet doesn't it make sense to take some countermeasures in the meantime?

A 50 cent diode is in most circuits to protect against polarity issues. Most aftermarket alarms have the immobilizer capability and alternate alarm setup you desire.

Move the obd2 port, and put a dummy in its place. That way they aren't breaking your stuff trying to pull the security cap off.

Stupid Question time...Don't our Camaro come with an alarm system? My girlfriend keeps tripping mine. I don't remember adding any packages that would have included the alarm but it's been on all three of my Camaros from 2017 onward.

Almost got car jacked

It’s my understanding they cannot use the obd port to program a key unless the car was unlocked with a key. Breaking in doesn’t override this security function does it?

I didn't even have to look at his location to know where this was from, what a miserable place it's becoming.

A second remote and/or a kill switch is a minor inconvenience no matter how we slice it. Best thing ever would be having these "entrepreneurs" off the streets for good.
